Five Port Perry children'spent three days, a couple of weeks ago, selling Freshie - a drink for kids - and collected $5.15 for the hospital. 'Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mar- tyn returned last week from an extended holiday in their camper to Alaska and the Western provinces. While they were away their son and his wife Mr. and Mrs. Ron Martyn took over store- keeping duties. On August 25 Ron and Ellie left for their new home in Texas where Ron will be taking post- graduate studies. Last Sunday supper and evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Samells were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Walden, Waterdown, Miss Iva Williams, Toronto, Mrs. Inez Todd, Campbellcroft and George Samells, Port Perry. Mr. Merlin Bailey of Lon- don spent several days with his mother Mrs. Velva Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bailey and family and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Corden and Julie. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. George Wolfe on the passing of his brother Robert in Ireland. George flew to Ireland to attend the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Assel- stine and family, Guelph, spent Fair weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Asselstine and family and also visitied Mary's parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Frey and family at Nestleton. Teresa Asselstine returned home with them to spend a week's holiday in Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harris attended Kinmount Fair on Saturday and were Satur- day overnight guests of her brother Mr. Alex Flett at Fenelon Falls. Mrs. Verna Corby of Oshawa was a Sunday after- noon and evening guest of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Asselstine and family. 'His many friends will be glad to know that Mr. M.A. Graham is able to be out of Port Perry Hospital again after spending last week there. He is. at is daughter Grace's home, Mr. and Mrs. Don Pargeter, in Port Perry. Her friends and relatives are so relieved to learn that Mrs. Brian Gray (nee Carol Wotten) was safely delivered of a baby girl after Carol was rushed to Toronto Hospital by ambulance on Saturday. Carol has been hospitalized for nearly a month in Port Perry so we all hope she will be soon better. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mahaffy were mid-week overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mabhaffy. Many of our local residents have been: taking in several of the fall fairs, Peterbo- rough, Kinmount and most recently Port Perry. Plans will be being made for Orono next week. This area has many who exhibit in various fields and recently several of our men have started to make the rounds as judges of various livestock classes. 'Linda and Lori Chapman, Port Perry were Saturday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahaffy. Dayid and Heather, Frankford. The annual Toms Picnic was held on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Har- vey Graham and family with approximately forty members of the family atten- ding. The afternoon after the bountiful picnic dinner was spent in swimming in the pool, in sports under the direction of Joan Graham and in visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Drink- water and Nancy, Ottawa spent a week with her mother Mrs. W. W. Van- Camp. Mr. and Mrs, Jack Kewin and son of Beaconsfield spent some time visiting her father Mr. E. R. Trewin. Mrs. Cathy Burie of Toronto spent a recent week end with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Corden and Julie and visited other relatives.
