Miss Barbara Taylor cer- tainly made up for the lack of a choir as she beautifully sang 'Bless this House' and "The Lord's Prayer." After service, a number enjoyed a hot lunch. with Rev. Pogue and his family, Rev. Barnes and Miss Taylor. It might be interesting to extend this hot luncheon as a pot-luck affair for all who cared to join in. Let's give it some thought. For now we owe many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cawker for looking - after music, speaker, flowers and food. Thanks also to the helpers. Next Sunday will be Com- munion Sunday. There will be a Board meeting after church. To night the "Head" U.C. W. will meet at "Head Memorial" church. Part of the program will be a Tup- perware Demonstration. Guests are welcome. Sunday evening, 27 members of the Lake Scugog Historical Choir were pract- ising at the "Head Memor- ial" Choir. You guessed it. They were preparing for the "Harvest Home'. Service in this same place next Sunday night, Oct. 6 at 7:30 P.M. they expect 29 members at least and Mr. Bill Hopkins will be the Piper. So it should be a festival of Music to please us. Rev.Victor Par- sons of Blackstock will be the guest minister. He is also a member of the Choir as is Rev. L. Bigby of Enniskillen. After so much pleasure, all of the congregation and part- icipants will enjoy *a lunch and social period. With so many attractions this 14 year old church is bound to resound with music of yesteryear and all hearts will be uplifted to new in- spiration.- It all sounds like an excellent, way to spend a Sunday evening so keep it open. We are sorry to hear that Jim Wilson has had to take another turn in hospital. His son Ken, is more fortunate as he, with 3 companions, is touring several countries of Europe. ' On Saturday night Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Reader were treated to a 25th anniver- sary dinnr at Gardens by their daughter Janet and son Raymond. Upon returning home, they were surprisedto find that the other members of Nel- son's family were all comfor- tably seated and awaiting their return. Members of the family present were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Luke of Raglan, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dowson of Peterborough, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Angus of Kimount and Mr. and Mrs. Don Ashbridge of Scugog. Several nieces and nephews accompanied their parents. The- happy couple was presented with a cut glass vase. Animals spur councillors into action A boar, a billy-goat and a bull spurred Scugog council "to pass a 'pounds act Monday night. ' ' These three animals have been found at large in the township in the past two weeks and since there was no law to deal with animals running at large, council passed a bylaw outlining pound fees and penalty for letting an animal other than a dog run at large. Dogs are already covered in a sepa- rate bylaw. Under the act, any horse, bull, ox, cow, sheep, pig or other: cattle, geese or any other poultry is prohibited from running at large and can be impounded if found doing so. Pound fees are $7. a day for bulls, boars and horses, and $5. a day for other cattle, goats, sheep and pigs. Fines of up to $30. can be imposed for violation of the bylaw in addition to the pound fees. Conway » i ns NN Ei ---- >TO Te FN Fa
