After the summer recess there was a lot of news and business to discuss. We had gone to the museum on Scugog and had luncheon dessert and business meet- ing "at Conway Gardens later. We catered for a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wardale and also a dinner at the Apple home. We served coffee and dough- nuts at the "*haylage day' at the home of Floyd Evans. Ending our holiday, we had a booth at Uxbridge Fair on the Sunday. Our programme had much interest as we had two young guests to perform for us. Miss Pauline Brown in highland costume danced the sword dance and in Sailor's costume she also delighted us with the Sailor's Horn- pipe. Pauline has won seve- ral dance contests and we do enjoy having her with us. No doubt you saw the picture of Beth Underhill in last week's paper, who will receive a silver medal for highest first class honour Mark in Grade I Singing for the Province of Ontario. She will sing at the Registered Music Teachers Association Honour Recital in Oshawa, October 8. Beth is the daugh- ter of our hostess and hon- oured us by singing a beauti- ful solo. contribution to our pro- gramme. A delightful lunch was served by our hostess. During the<social hour we caught up on our summer news. Mrs. Underhill enter- tained guests from London, England. Mrs. W. Warne's mother from England is spending a year with relatives in Canada. Mrs. F. Brown is expec- ting relatives from Ireland in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Lyons have returned from a honey- moon on the East coast. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Lyons in Nova Scotia. Mrs. Ben DeBoer visited relatives in Holland for three weeks. Last but by no means least we missed Mrs. C. Ashen- hurst at our meeting as she was on her way to Australia to a World Convention of the Women's Institute.
