Following a welcome to the ladies, Mrs. DeJong intro- duced two visitors, Mrs. H. "Bradley (Past District Pre- sident of West Durham) and her friend, Mrs. Hurrie. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mrs. J. Wygerde, Secretary, who in lieu of the absence of Mrs. Davison duties also. Plans were * discussed regarding the Dis- trict Fun Fair in Maple Grove this month and Nutrit- ion Day whichis to be held in the Solina. Community Hall on October 31st from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The ladies voted to attend an invitation to the Janetville W.I. on October 17th at 8 p.m. The seventy-second Cent- ral Ontario Convention shall be held in the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, on December "the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The Honourable Pauline McGib- bon shall address the As- sembly. Mrs. G. Heaslip, convener for Education and Cultural Affairs, presided for the programme. The Motto, The W.i. has a place Tea, bazaar held by Eastern Star A most enjoyable Tea and Bazaar sponsored by the Eastern Star was held Sat. -- afternoon last in the Angli- can Parish Hall. Many interested folk at- "tended the event, a new venture for the Eastern Star, and it was a decided success. ~ There was a wonderful display of items of all kinds 'arranged on the tables such as, needlework, handicraft, doll clothes, goodies out of the best kitchens, vegetables & plants, opportunity table, miscellaneous, and finally a refreshing cup of tea. Many hours of planning and work are credited to Convener Marjorie Edwards and her assistants, who help- ed to make the project a success. Portions of a talk regarding rural soc- iety encouraging discussing problems of stress, given by Dr. Hadwin was read by Mrs. L,, Malcolm. In pre- senting the guest speaker, Mrs. Bradley, Mrs. Heaslip informed the ladies that Mrs. Bradley was the dele- gate to the 1973 Conference in Banff. @ This had been her first opportunity to visit Nestle- ton. In the course-of her interesting and informative talk, Mrs. Bradley stated that each visitor from Ont- ario wore our emblem, the Trillium. The School of Fine Arts in Banff was the confer- ence headquarters. Speakers of distinction were the Hon. "E. Whalen, Dr. D, Leighton, Dr. H. Honer and Mrs. Fulton, F.W.1.C. Social func- tions were as follows, a gigantic barbecue, with five hundred and nineteen in attendance. The banquet with seven hundred and two attending and a Rocky Mountain tour which included a trip to the beauteous Lake Louise, Em- erald Lake, Yo-Ho Valley, Sulphur Springs followed by a trip via cable car to the mountain peak. Mrs. Hurrie then showed slides of the tour with the commentary given by. Mrs.. Bradley. -To bring this delightful after- noon to a close, Mrs. L. Malcolm at the piano, ac- companied the ladies in sing- ing O Canada. Following. the Institute Grace, Miss Proutt's group served luncheon. Mrs. F. Dayes voiced appreciation. The November meeting shall be hosted by Mrs. C. Earn- shaw, Mrs. H. McLaughlin, Convener of Citizenship and World Affairs shall be in charge. The guest speaker is to be Mr. Brian Newton an Actuary, from Toronto, The meeting shall of course be, held in the Nestleton Com- munity Centre at 1:30 p.m. The objective of the mem- bers of Court Court Nestleton and sur- rounding Courts of the Cana- dian Foresters for 1974 is to donate $3,000.00 to furnish a new patient's lounge in the Princess Margaret Cancer Hospital in Toronto. Last season the grand total raised for the furnishing of a lounge in the Cataraqui Hospital in Kingston was over seven. thousand dollars. The presentation this year shall be made at the Eastern Ontario Provincial Assembly at the 401 Inn in Peterborough on' April. the 19th. You may rest assured that we shall obtain our goal once more. With the objec- tive of each human being, and I know that we all feel united in the effort to con- quer this dread disease through research, I am quite cértain that we shall be assisted by many of you.in any endeavour to raise funds for this particular worthy cause.
