The 125th Anniversary and Thank offering services of Burns Church congregation were well attended on Sun., October 27th. Former mem- bers and friends came from Port Perry, Orangeville, Toronto, Scarborough, Brooklin, Woodville, Clare- mont, Whitby, Epsom, Aurora and Uxbridge. We were glad, to have our Minister, Re Stuart McEntyre bring us\the mess- | ages for the day. Y In the morning his sermoh was . In the evening, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Chior of Scarborough led in the Ministry of Music. Their choir leader is Mr: Danny Reesor whose home was at one time in Port Perry, and Mrs. Reesor is their organist. ' Their first number, "Come by Here" was sung as a call to worship with just the light of the cross shining and was very effective. They also sang "God's House", "I will Build my Church" and "My Redeem- er" and for those who especially like it, the high- light of the music was the "Hallelujah Chorus" sung after the benediction which made a very fitting closing to our 125th Anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Annis and Mr. and Mrs. D. Annis and family of Orillia, also, Mrs. Eva Towner of Clare- mont, visited Misses Hilda and Mary Hopkins and Mr. 'Walter Hopkins recently. Mr. and Mrs. E. Heron and Mrr and Mrs. Drew Leaper and Ian of London, had a trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan, last week. Frankenmuth is a very interesting little Ger- man town. There were nine tables of euchre played at the Com- munity Centre. + Mrs. A. Fisher had a short trip to Florida this week. Mr. Brian Daw of Toronto spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daw. Mr. and Mrs. A. Christie of Epsom and Mrs. G English of Woodville visited with "Misses Hilda and Mary Hop- kins and Walter on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Purdy of Orangeville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. H. Ashton. Mr. and Mrs. George Cos- "tello of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sutherland and family were guests of Mr. and 'Mrs. N. Ashton over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Reynolds of Aurora and Mr. and Mrs. W. McAndless of Scarborough were with Mr. and Mrs. E. Heron on Sunday. We are sorry to report Mrs. Frank Lynde had the misfortune to badly hurt her ankle. We hope she will soon be able to be out again. It was good to see Mr. Bill Hopkins out after his recent surgery in Oshawa hospital. Mr. and. Mrs. Gostic of Claremont and Miss Edith Gostic were guests of the Wm. Hopkings family on Sunday. Our thought for the day is - A church is a hospital for Sinners, not a museum for Saints. Abigail Van Buren. The groom is the son of Mrs. Lois Smith and the late Beverly J. Smith of Port Perry. The bridal attendants were Perry, matron of honour, cousin of -- Smith united in marriage in the Church of the bride, Sylvia Jeffrey of Port Perry. Bridesmaid was the brides sister, Sandra Luke and Michelle Midgley, Prince Albert, was flower- girl. The best man was Jim Moore of Port Perry and acting as usher was Art Tikeryan from Toronto, both. friends of the groom. Louise and Richard Smith are now residing in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
