Last Tuesday, a group of Island ladies went to Toronto and purchased dishes and tables for the Island Hall, So it will soon be possible to do some catering there. Mrs. Max Stichmann is very busy these days with her course at Durham Col- lege. You will 'not find busier people anywhere than there are on the Island. Then, too, «most of us wish we had more time and talents to take on more duties. "Grace" U.C.W. will hold their November meeting tonight at 8 P.M. The roll call will 'be answered with any scraps of knitting wool for Angola. Don't forget we shall be counting our pennies soon. Will the person who has the "Bakeless sale" purse please bring it to the meeting. It will soon be time for both U.C.W.'s to consider their Mystery Sister Supper. We understand some of the ladies haven't heard or had any recognition from their Mystery Sisters at all and some have been quite disap- pointed. A few more parents and children are showing inter- est in-**Grace" Sun. School but more interest is needed in leadership. ~~ Churches have quite a struggle to present facts when it is a known statistic that four oat of five people have no belief or interest in it. Rev. Pogue gave an illus- trated story to the children through a one dollar bill and a ten dollar bill. He conclud- ed by asking the children to give their money and lives for God. His message for the adults was based on the early prophets 'who warned the people about forgetting God and worshipping Gods of many kinds. Last Sunday, Nov. 3rd the church sanctuary was decor- ated in floral autumn tints for our annual anniversary service. It was gratifying to note the flow of folk includ- ing those present from our sister church, as a result, the majority of - pews were occupied. Near fifty years ago, Charlie was a young man of our village, still known to many of us. He finally found a bride; his wife, formerly Miss Lila Heayn, also of our midst. Anyway, as we say, "Charlie" delivered a mean- ingful message, good for we all. Offering gathered by Lloyd Pereman and Bryan Beacock. Might I mention the flowers for the worship hour were freely donated through the kind gesture of "Ives Florist". Credit is due Miss Mary Clugston who directed the entire program consist- ing of group singing, of maybe twelve voices of youth plus piano and guitar. Mrs. Shirley Brawn fittingly closed the pleasant hour. Last Wednesday evening in the Community Centre approximately seventy-five children and adults partici- pated in the well organized Hallowe'en Party. Evening involved playing various games after which judging of the many costumes. Lunch climaxed the party. A special thank you to those who assisted in various ways. Lake and family of Oakwood and Mr. and Mrs. B. Martyn of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. L. Beacock in Toronto on Saturday visit- ing his brother Lloyd who has been a patient in General Hospital nearing five months.
