By Mabel Cawker The regular monthly meet- ing of Honeydale Women's Institute was held November 7th in the Municipal Hall with Curator Mrs. Margaret Cornish in charge of the programme. The Pres., Mrs. Dorothy Naples, conducted the meet- ing attending to the business at hand, opening with W.I. Ode and Mary Stewart Col- A friendly welcome "was extended to all present. Members responded to the 'Roll Call' by submitting a clipping or picture of interest for the Tweedsmuir History. Correspondence included thank you notes from mem- bers who have been ill. We do extend best wishes to these folk. for a complete recovery soon. The President presented ing School course, 'More Ideas - Sewing with Knits", is a very popular course, and we are indeed pleased to have Mrs. Mary Brinkman and Mrs. Mavis Bell as Leaders. These girls are now preparing to teach any- one in the community who might be interested. Approximately twenty people are needed for the ideal class. An organizat- ional meeting will be held January 6th, 2 p.m. at Mrs. Brinkman's home, Queen Street. For further inform- ation Phone 985-7673 or 985-2350. A short "In Memoriam Service' was held in memory of the late Florence Shunk, a valued member for many years. In her warm, relaxed, humorous style, Allene spoke of the many activities over the years, and showed beautiful coloured slides of the inter- esting items in the Museum Collections, as well as pic- tures of the Historical Society booth at the Home Show, Port Perry Fair, His- torical Choir, Canoe Race, Moving the Lee House and what it involved, etc. ete. A skit "A Mustard Seed" was given, special music by the choir and our organist Joan Lee sang a lovely .solo. Following the service, a Pot Luck Lunch- eon was well attended. The opening of the Royal Winter Fair will see many people visiting .it to see the flower display and cattle. Opening day last Friday, saw several of our senior citizens as visitors. Don Foster has returned home after working for the last seven months in the Queen Charolette Island, off the coast of British Columbia.
