They have boon living at their 62 Ella Street House for many, many years now. It originally belonged to their parents and the two sisters lived at home while teaching school in Port Perry. Miss Eunice Harris taught public school for forty-three and a half years before finally retiring in 1949, while her sister taught for forty and a half years. Miss Morwenna Harris obtained a degree by going to High School during her career. Once their parents died, the two women bought the house outright from their other brothers and sisters. The two obviously must get along together to live with each other all their lives. 'Oh, I guess we have had a few disputes over the years," Miss Eunice Harris said. The school was on the same grounds as the present High School but was closer to Queen Street and faced Queen Street. It was in the mid-1920's that this school burned down and about one year later the original part of the present High School was built and was used as both a public and high school. While they were building the new school, the base- ments of the local churches and the old town hall were used for classrooms. Miss Morwenna Harris taught all the forms at the summer school at the Uni- versity of Toronto after the province decided that all high school teachers should have a degree.. The two sisters say they don't get out of the house very much anymore. They had to sell their car and they don't walk" very far anymore. But they are still busy all the time. The two 'things they do leave the house for, is to go to the dentist and to to the beauty salon. They get the Globe and Mail every day as they always have, and both sis- ters still can and do read. They don't watch too much television now, although they do watch Lawrence Welk, the Irish Rovers and Front Page Challenge on a regular basis. They also listen to the news, on the radio, while they eat their meals. One of their favourite pas- times is playing Scrabble and they play two games of Scrabble just about every night. They also used to play a lot of bridge, but aren't playing as much as they used to.
