Duffs Towing 6, Brians Supertest 1 Duffs Towing strengthen- ed their hold on fourth place as they crushed Brian's five goals in the span of fifteen minutes in the second period. Van Heugel and Bill Down scored twice, Wayne Church and Vipond had one each for Duffs, and, Ken Knott scored the lone goal for Brians. Smits Cycle & Sport 2, Utica Auto Body 2 Both teams remain unde- feated as Smils & Utica fought to a 2-2 tie. In the first period, Smits controlled the play as they took a 1-0 lead on Dale Crawford's goal assisted by Don Gray. Dénnis Symes held Utica in with several key saves. In the second period with Smits short handed most of the time, it was Mike Van- derby's turn to make the big stops "as Utica fought back twice to tie the score. First it was Mike Mitchell scoring with assists going to Ron Redman and Harvey Parrinder. Ron Crawford scored again with Dale Crawford and Pat Thompson setting him up. Before an excellent week night crowd on Thursday in Uxbridge the Flamingos were handed a 4-3 defeat by the first place Lindsay Trent Muskies. The Muskies dominated the first period and aided by an "off night" by Wayne Cordingley in goal and a five -minute major to Dave Hill for high sticking built up an early 4-1 lead. Ken Jeffery opened the scoring for the Flamingos but Lindsay replied with goals by Kevin Graham, Steve Lytle and two by Greg Sloan. Coach Wayne Redshaw then replaced Cordingley with Barry Heard at the- start of the second period and this seemed to lift the FLAMINGOS SPORT SHORTS The Flamingos take to the road on Thursday night as they play the Port Hope Panthers. The Juniors seem to have trouble winning in the Panthers arena the last couple of seasons but now they should end this jinx. The local club now trail the first place Lindsay team by 5 points but still have a game in hand. When the Bowmanville club play at the local arena on Sunday night, they will have the leagues leading scorer in the line-up in Rory Gibbs. Another player to watch is number "4", Dave Tabb who is the league's leading defenseman in the scoring department and in gaining a reputation as the league's *'tough guy". Larry Elson is currently averaging a goal a game for the Flamingos, he had one against Lindsay and a pair against Sutton. Dave Hill is the current penalty leader for the local club with forty penalty minutes. Rick Campbell is still the leader in goals with twelve. CENTRAL ONTARIO JUNIOR "C" HOCKEY BOWMANVILLE RED EAGLES VS PORT PERRY FLAMINGOS 'SUNDAY DECEMBER 1ST. At Port Perry Arena GAME TIME 8:15P.M. Come on out and cheer the Flamingos to victory. Teas : Ns ha Juniors, as Barry "shut the door" for the remainder of the game and didn't allow a goal. Rick Campbell scored for the Port Perry Club to make it 4-2 after two periods. In the third stanza, the Flamingos played possibly their finest period of hockey this year as they completely dominated the league lead- ers, but could only manage a single goal by Larry Elson and had to settle -for a 4-3 loss. The top line for the Fla- mingos in this game and in the past couple of weeks has been Neil McLaughlin cen- tering Ken Jeffery and Andy Litt. They are not only doing a good job of checking but are also picking up a few goals. y On Friday night the Flam- ingo's travelled to Sutton and easily defeated the Rangers 8-1. : Bernie Aldred led the Jun- iors with three goals, with Larry Elson getting a pair and singles going to Bob Marquis, Rick Campbell and Steve Craig. The next home game for the Flamingos will be Sunday, December 1st when the Bowmanville Red Eagles will be the opposition. The Flamingos defeated the Jagles 9-4 in an earlier game but the Bowmanville Club is qnly a few points back of the Juniors and are one of the toughest teams physically in the league. The last game ended in a wild brawl at the - Uxbridge Arena, so come out early as another large crowd: is expected. Juveniles win two games, lose one The Grant Menzies Volvo Juvenile boys had two excit- ing games in the last two weeks. They out played Pickering on November 14 to a 5-2 win and Uxbridge on November 21 to a 4-3 win. In the Pickering encounter it was the added strength that gave the boys the desire to get back into the show. The added strength was in the two Midget "B" players that are now regular with the Juveniles in the persons of Sean Taylor, an all-around winger, and John Kane, a hitting and shooting defen- seman. Volvo's opened the scoring with Kevin Hadley, Dale McQuade and Sean Taylor assisting. Then it was John Kane with Kevin Hadley assisting, first period over. Pickering scored first in the second. , Then Sean Taylor unassisted to end the second. In the third period, Sean Taylor opened the scor- ing with Kevin Hadley assist- ing. Pickering scored and then Dale McQuade finished "the'scoring with Sean Taylor assisting. Final score 5-2. Penalties 6-Port Perry, 7-Pickering. In the Uxbridge encounter, it was Kevin Hadley who opened the scoring, Sean Taylor and Jerry Taylor assisting. Then Dale Mc- Quade with Sean Taylor and . Kelly Lee assisting, before Uxbridge came back and tied it up to end the first period. In the second, one goal by Rod Campbell unas- sisted. In the third, the Volvo boys scored again with Rob Abraham scoring unas- sisted before Uxbridge rounded out the game. Final score Port Perry 4, Uxbridge 3. Penalties 11-Port Perry, 9-Uxbridge. The Volvo boys travelled back to Pickering on Satur- day, November 23. In this game in which we lost ten minutes of game time, we came out with a 5-3 loss. The Volvo boys went ahead in the first period on goals from Dale 'McQuade and - Peter Van Weston with an assist going to Kevin Hadley. Pickering came back in the second with before Peter Van Weston scored his second with Doug Bronson and Greg St. John assisting. Pickering ended this- period with two more unanswered goals. The third period only lasted 5 minutes and twenty seconds, when time was called. Final score Pickering 5, Port Perry 3. Penalties %-Port Perry, 4-Pickering Village.
