A spokesman at the- Regional Works department told the STAR that it will take another couple of weeks to have the new well hooked into the eight inch water main that runs from the well site on the Oshawa Road to Port Perry, The new well is beside the well that is now supplying Port Perry with water. Consider 7A sidewalks Roads Superintendént Ron MacDonald has been asked to report to Scugog council on the feasibility of building sidewalks on the south side of Highway 7A. Coun. Reg Rose said R. H. Cornish Public School offic- ials said the large number of students who must cross or walk along Highway 7A is a serious problem. There are no sidewalks on Highway 7A. Coun. Bob Kenny suggest- ed that if a sidewalk was built from Ottawa to Arrow Street, it might solve the problem. Mr. MacDonald said tem- porary sidewalks might be in order since the Ministry of Transportation and Com- munication is carrying out a reconstruction project on Highway 7A and may do work in Port Perry. Mr. MacDonald was also asked to look at the side- walks on Perry and Kellett Street. DELICATESSEN MEATS "Berhemeyer Cold Cuts" 1 LARGE ASSORTMENT OF BITTNER'S ho The spokesman said the new well was drilled because local geological conditions make the output of a well decrease after a number of years of use. The spokesman said it will be possible to pump from but that it wouldn't be neces- sary unless there was a major fire in town. What is holding back expansion of Port Perry's water supply is the eight inch water main that is now in use. The capacity of this line must be increased before any major building program can take place in Port Perry. Options are being taken on property in the area where both the Ministry of the Environment and the Region are drilling test wells hoping to find a new water source for Port Perry.
