There will be drop in boxes in Port Perry at the Medical Centre, Pub- lic Library and Lawrence's pharmacy. The Kinsmen Club Super Bingo held last week at the High School was a tremen- dous success, over three hundred bingo fans attended. The proceeds from this will be used for Community services. TATAO to be discussed at Regional meeting again Another round of the long fight over Durham's involve- ment in the Toronto Area Transit Operating Authority (TATOA) will be fought at. the next regional council meeting. Council will consider recommendations from a joint meeting of the public works and. the planning and development committee. One recommendation is that Durham only join TATOA if Durham can ap- point its own members. The other recommendation was that members of the author- ity elect their own chairman. © TATOA is currently made up of the chairman of several Toronto-area regions as well as Metro Toronto Chairman Paul Godfrey. A. T. C. McNab is the provincially appointed chair- man of the TATOA. Coun. Des Newman of Whitby complained about the lack of accountability of the Authority. Mr. Newman said that almost every delegation that has appeared before Dur ham"s Planning and Develop ment committee about the Official Plan has expressed a desire to have a different life-style in Durham than in Toronto. The works committee reversed an earlier stand when it decided last week to charge Duffins Creek Estate Ltd. the full $1.3 million in regional water and sewer levies. The EE originally favoured giving the develon- er an exemption but council rejected that recommend- ation and sent the matter back to the committee for further study. The project has been designed as an Ontario Hous- ing Action Program develop- ment and is aimed at famil- ies with incomes of $14,000 to. $15,000. It would have about 1,100 units selling for about $35,000 "each. Works Commissioner, Boh Richardson, said that Duf- fins Creek Estates shouldn't contributions 1t made to the town's sewer and water system. The developer claims he paid ~ the development charges before the region came into existence, but Mr. Richardson claim. disputes that = be given any credit * Cut Right, Priced Right, Quality Meats MEATS BLADE ROASTS i."
