a Ladki esbuncdicioh -- « Agrees that religion shouldn't be taught in the schools Dear Editor: I heartily agree with Mrs. B. Kendell (should not dis- cuss religion in schools Letter to Editor Dec. 4, 1974). May I quote: "If religion is taken out of the schools, it should be taken off ~ the debating agenda, also". In her letter, Mrs. Kendell makes mention of ene stud- ent who was very upset over the arguments in favour of "God is Dead". So much of their time is spent within this group; at school, during extra-curricular activities, in clubs and organizations, and social affairs. Almost a sensitive young person (such as the student men- tioned) need and seek to be accepted by their Peer group and thus will be swayed to believe what "the group says is right". I would very much like to have the following questions answered: } (1) Under what course of study was this debate (God is Dgad) held? Certainly not Religious Education, as that has been removed from the subject for debate on their own or did their teacher assign it? (3) Last, but not least, what was the outcome of the debate? Did the affirmative win? "God is Dead'. OR did the 'negative win? "God is NOT Dead"! I'm sure there are others who would like to know the answers to the above, so | hope we may see them in a future issue of your paper. Thank you. Sincerely, Edith Brunton, Port Perry.
