News from Epsom and area Toronto visited with Mr. and Mrs. Al. Christie during the weekend. The U.C.W. for Epsom- Utica had a lovely Christmas meeting at Utica last Tues- day evening. There was no Installation of Officers as the nominating Committee experienced difficulty in fill- ing two positions. There was an exchange of gifts and we handed in our gift pouches. Then Group Three served a bountiful and delicious lunch. On Sunday evening, the Sunday School children pre- sented their Christmas con- cert al Epsom Church. The children and their teachers are to be comple- mented on such an enjoyable programme. The United Church is hav- ing its 50th Anniversary, so the tree was not a glitter with tinsel and coloured lights, but each child made an ornament to' trim the tree and garlands of popcorn were used instead of tinsel ropes. The children exchanged gifts. All enjoyed a lunch in the Sunday School rooms and had a visit before going home. Next Sunday, December 22, Mr. Scott will be atk Epsom for a Special Christ- man Service at 11:30 in which the children will be participating and Mr. Scott will give an illustrated address. On Tuesday, December 24 at 8 p.m., there will be a Christmas Eve service at Epsom with celebration of Holy Communion. On Saturday, December 28, Mr. and Mrs. Scott wish all to pay a visit to the manse between 2:30 and 5:30 and from 7:30 on. Please bring your children. A district Ski Social was held at Sky Loft Lodge. Snelgrove. Our minister Rev. R. Brawn delivered an inspiring mes- sage for everyone. He also voiced appreciation to the - Feasby's for two beautiful flower arrangements from the memorial service of Mrs. - Dunn of Stouffville. Another thoughtful gesture he voiced, was the large blooming:poin- settia given to our church through the courtesy of Ives Florists. It was pleasant to see new and familiar faces at the service. We extend sympathy to Mrs. Stanley Feasby over the passing of her mother, Mrs. Dunn, who had witnes- sed a few months of illness and surgery. Did you see the church all "lit up the other night?" Why It was the S.S. concert therefore the spirits of the children ran high. Moms, Dads and Grandparents all helped make the large atten- dance. Mr. F. Harris- explained the purpose of the evening after which Mrs. Barbara Garside acted as chairlady for the program consisting of the usual recit- ations, skits, plays and sing- ing groups accompanies by Mrs. F. Harris at the piano. The actions and parapher- 'nalia proved most amusing. Rev. Brawn expressed suit- able remarks. Then came jolly St. Nick who distributed gifts and candy. Winners at last weeks euchre were: High lady - Jeffrey, Myrtle Manns, Helen Goslin. High Gent - Milt Heayn, Austin Hicks and D. Thompson. Lone Hand series - Carl Gimblett.
