\ Port Perry Flamingo Pastries Juniors moved into second place in the Central Ontario Junior "C" Hockey League by virture of three victories in this last week's action. On Thursday night in a poorly played game the Flamingos defeated the Sut- ton Southshore Rangers 8-6. Steve Craig and Bob Marquis had two goals apiece, with singles going to Paul Haddon, Dave Jobb, Dave Hill and Robin Kydd. Ron Allen had two goals for Sutton in a losing cause. The Juniors also defeated the Frankford Huskies twice on the week-end, 6-5 in Frankford on Friday night and 5-4 in Port Perry on Sunday. Bob Marquis had three goals with Paul Hadden, Robin Kydd, and Bob Young getting single markers. Paul Poupart had two for Frank- ford. , At home on Sunday night the Flamingos were hard Bantams On Monday, December 9, the Beare Motors Bantam "A" travelled to Newcastle to play their second game against them. Newcastle opened up the scoring in 28 seconds. Within 3 minutes, Newcastle slipped another one in Ports net. Once Port got used to the narrow ice surface, it didn't take them long to put two goals in. The first for Port was scored at the 3:35 mark of the second period. This goal went to Mike Healey, after he picked it up behind Ports net, skated through the Newcastle team and drilled it by their goalie. The Newcastle team had quite a time trying to stop Mike, who is the biggest player on Ports team. Two minutes latter, Pete Lane belted one into the net to tie the game up. Tom Perigoe and Mark Lee re- ceived the assists on this goal. In the third period, New- castle scored while Port was short handed at 6:00 to once again take the lead. At the 9:15 point, Rob Greirer scored with the assists going to Bill 'Owen and "Big" Mike Healey. This goal tied up the game again. Rob is the smallest player on Ports team but makes up for it in speed and goals. With one and a half min- utes left in the game, Mike Healey picked up the puck, passing it to Steve McIntyre who faked a shot and passed it to Bill Owen who drove it home. For the first time in the game, Port had the lead. With this assist, Mike Healey finished with 3 points for the night. With 10 seconds left in the game, Newcastle scored to tie up the game. The final score was Port 4, Newcastle 4, SNOWMOBILERS Now yéu can get Mercury Quality at competitive prices. 4 pressed to defeat the Huskies 5-4 with both Barry Heard for the local Club and Steve MacDonald in goal for the Huskies playing sensational games. This was one of the most exciting games in the past month with plenty of hard hitting and fast action. The Flamingos got single goals from Rick Campbell, Dave Jobb, Kenn Jeffrey, Ed Flamingos win three in a row Lou pair for Olsen and Robin Kydd. Doucette had a Frankford. This Sunday night the Flamingos play host to. the Port Hope Panthers and for the third year in a row, the Flamingo Jr. "C" Hockey Club invite all Public School students in the area to attend the game free as guests of the club. Game time 8:15 p.m. tie Newcastle, drop game to Uxbridge Two days later, Port play- ed the Uxbridge team, who are at the top of the league. Uxbridge opened up the scoring at the 1:05 mark of the first period. Eight minutes into the second period, Steve Mc Intyre scored Ports first goal. There was a scramble in front of Uxbridge's net and Rob Greiner who picked up the assist, passed it'out to "Mac" who slid the puck between the legs of the Uxbridge goalie and into the net. Uxbridge scored their second goal three minutes into the third period. Five minutes later, again scored to increase their lead, 3-1. The last two of their goals were scored they while Port was short-hand- ed. Trainer "Jack" Jeffrey, thought, that if Port hadn't had their eight penalties they could have had a win. Mike Healey, picked up Port's second goal with a blistering shot from the point from Tim Kanes pass. Rob Greiner picked up the other assist. This goal was scored at 7:43 in the 3rd period. In the remaining seven minutes, Port couldn't put the puck in Uxbridges net and ended up losing 3-2. Russ Stephens, Ports coach, was pleased with the way the team played and hopes they will keep it up in the future. A lot of credit has to go to Craig Larmer, who played the entire game in Port's net. Snowmobile News NEW LEGISLATION GOVERNING ALL SNOWMOBILE CLUBS There is new legislation being drafted for the Province of Ontario govern- ing snowmobiles. It is up to the individual to find out what these new laws and regulations are. On Satur- day, January 18th at 1:30 p.m., there will be a meeting at the Latcham Centre in Port Perry on the Ontario Federation on Snowmobile Clubs. All snowmobilers are welcome. We will be discus- sing the new regulations. To use common sense is the best way to keep out of trouble; get permission before you cross somebody's property;- don't run late at night and don't use the streets in town as a running place. This was the Bobcats strong- "est game of the year, the reason being losing two games last week to Beaver- ton 9-3, and to Whitby Minor Midgets 6-3. Everyone on the team played a strong game with the line of Kevin Martens, Robert Evans and Stuart Cochrane picking up seven points a piece. Eric Hatfield played his best game of the year for the Bobcats after coming back from a serious knee injury a few games ago. Timbers and P. Delic with the only two goals by Ux- bridge. . The Bobcats next game is Thursday, December 19 at 7:30 p.m. hosting Uxbridge and then the next night they travel to Stouffville. These boys are playing fast excit- ing hockey so come out and enjoy some good entertain- ment this week.
