- visits cubs at Scout Hall Santa wasn't able tc make it to Port Perry Scout Hall last Thursday night so in his absence he sent his Snow Princess, Susan Parker, to distri- bute the gifts at the B Pack Cubs Christmas Party. The 37 boys in the Pack plus many parents tried to break open a box full of candy which was hanging from the ceiling, while blindfolded. SERVICE CALLS BING PORT PERRY STAR -- Monday, Dec. 23, 1974 - -- NURSING HOME NEWS -- ..A most enjoyable Kinettes Christmas party was held Monday night. On Monday, December the 16th, the Kinette Club of Port Perry entertained the resid- ents, with an old fashioned Christmas concert. Chair- man for the evenings fes- tivities was Kinette Gerri Langille and her committee were Kinettes Anne Lape, Mary-Lea Dowson and Doreen Kendall. The programme was opened with a recitation by Kyle Dinaut, Piano solos by Jill Kendall, Cheryl Dinaut, Billy Dowson and Lea Dow- son. Wee Kelly Gouin favoured us with a delightful song accompanied by Mrs. Mary-lea Dowson on the piano. A group of five-year-old elves then gave several selections with their rythmn band to the delight of all. Lynn Bradbury: -and Lyn- nette Jackson showed us their agility with a demon- stration of gymnastics. All the residents joined in and helped the children with the singing of some of our favourite Christmas carols. Special guest for the even- mg was St. Nick who pro ceeded to give a small gift to cach resident and then with the help of all the children told a Christmas story about "Sleepy Donder". Kenny Langille and Steven Gouin said a Goodnight with a humourous recitation. Twenty-five residents enjoyed this charming pro- gramme and stayed to have coffee and fruit bread. Mr. Christie thanked the Kinet- tes for all the time and love that they show to all of us. Tuesdays church service was taken by Pastor Payne assisted by Mrs. Walsh who sang "Joy to the World" and Mrs. Stewart who spoke on "What Christmas means to me".- A film on the Birth of Christ was shown. Wednesday was our resid- ents Christmas Party. A report written by a resident follows. Thursday the Ontario County Junior Farmers Choir entertained with songs old and new. We thoroughly enjoyed their program. The Emmerson's dropped by on Friday to visit with all of us. 'The Dining room was packed to. the limit and entertained by Dr. Rennie's group, including Mrs. Whit- ter, Mr. Grieves and Jack Hope, who gave an excellent programme of music and singing. Then Santa arrived and distributed gifts to all the residents. Refreshments were generously served in a great variety of fancy cakes, ete., also fruit drinks from the punch bowl to one and all. Mr. Grant Christie, on behalf of the residents, pro- posed appreciation to the entertainers for their excel- lent program, and extended to them the compliments of the season. The general public are scarcely aware of all the good practised here to help the many who are unable to help themselves, and in this case to bring cheer to all.
