Ferguson picked up one assist. The second game saw Scugog Realty defeat Emiels Place by a 3-1 count. M. Pratt scored a hat trick for - Scugog while D. Lee got the lone goal for Emiels. Get- ting assists were B. Paisley for Scugog and V. McKee for Emieb's. ATOM . Lions Club edged Scugog Lumber in a closely battled 3-2 game. Scoring for the 4» Lions were T. Menzies with two and A. Ferguson with one. S. Brierley picked up two goals and P. Sytsma got one assist for Scugog. Swamp Garage came out winners in their game as they outscored U.A.W. 4-2. H. Lee and J. Johnstone each with two goals and one assist. C. Perrin picked up an assist for Swamp. Pick- ing up scoring points for U.A.W. were R. Burnett and L. Web each with one. R. Ginn and T. Bowmeister got assists for U.A.W. U.A.W. Local 222 - 2 - Scugog Lumber 1 It was a very close game with Scugog Lumber holding their own until 4:10 of the first period when U.AW. Local 222 scored. Rob Burnett whizzed down the ice and put the puck by Scugog Lumber goalie D. Shaw. At the :40 second mark of a the second period Scugog Lumber scored when Paul Systma took a pass from B. Guernsey. By this time both teams were fighting hard to get the tie-breaker. At the 5:05 mark of the second period, U.AW. Local, 222 scored Rob Burnett stot ed his second goal of the game when he received a hard pass from J. Cordiner. The score didn't change through- out the rest of the game, but there were some close calls. Lions Club 1 - ~ Swamp Auto Body 1 It didn't take very long before a goal was scored. At the 1:25 mark of the first period, Swamp Auto Body scored when J. Johnstone received a pass from Steven Lee. Then at the 2:20 mark of the first period, to tie up the game Lions Club scored when Todd Menzies received a blistering pass from Larry Van Schagen. At this point of the game, both teams were skating hard. At the 6:35 mark of the first period, Lions Club broke the tie when Todd Menzies with his second goal of the game, received a good hard accur- ate pass from Chris Martens. There was no other scoring done until the second period at the 3';50 mark when Lions Club scored. Larry Van- Schagen received a pass from Chris Martens just inside of the blueline. This was Chris' second point of the game. There was no scoring done until late in the second period at 15:35 when Lions Club scored. For his ® third point of the game, Chris Martens stick-handled through Swamp auto Body and shot it through goalie J. Jackman's legs. The score stayed the same throughout the rest of the game. NOVICE Kinsmen 5 - Scugog Realty 2 Kinsmen took the lead one nothing at the 4:35 mark of the first period when Ken Ferguson received a hard ice pass from D. Desautels. Kinsmen didn't give up and kept pounding away then scored at the 5:08 mark of the first period when D. Desautels had a break away from centre ice. At 10:18 of the first period, F. Cawker- ton scored for Kinsmen when Ken Ferguson passed it across the ice in front of Scugdg Realty goalie Scott Arculus. At 13:47 of the first period, Rob Tobin scored for Kinsmen. Then at 14';55 B. Stevenson scored for Kins- men when he received a pass from Rob Tobin. Scugog Realty were trying very hard to get some goals. It finally came at the 8:45 mark of the second period when M. Pratt received a hard stiff pass from J. VanHarlem. Just before the end of the second period at 14:50, M. Pratt scored his second goal for Scugog Real- ty. There were no more goals scored. Tran's General Store 2 - Emiels Place 0 There was no scoring done during the first period. Both teams were trying very hard to get a goal. . At 10';51 of the second period, Ian Dickson scored for Trans General Store. Then at 13:30 of the second period, Ian Dickson scored again when he received a pass from Kevin Fowler. There were no more goals scored after this. MIDGET Carl the Butcher 9 - Grieves Gulf 3 Doug Culbert played a strong game'in the Carls net until late in the third period when Tim Ashbridge scored his unassisted goal. Rick Goris and Paul Beare each scored a single with assists going to Steve Middleton, Paul Beare, Ron Goris and Ritchie Leforte. Gerry Percy was Carl's leading scorer with 4 goals. Stu Cochrane added 2 goals and 1 assist and Mike McQuade got a pair of goals. Bill Blow also contributed two goals. Rick Rahm assisted twice and Allan Waldinsperger and Jim Percy each picked up single assists. Consumers Gas 2 - Wagg Bros. Texaco 1 This was a close fought battle with most of the play in .the centre ice area. Consumer's first goal came in the first period, Tom Jacobsen scoring from Kelly Reese. Their next goal came in the second with Guy Wright scoring from Kelly Reese and Ron Espie. Jack Gunter scored Waggs only putting away a pass from Charlie Olliffe. Consumers Gas 3 - Club Annrene 1 Consumers came on strong at the first of the game scoring three goals before Annrene could get one. Kevin Williams and Larry Page each scored and assis- ted. The other Consumer goal was scored by Colin Wackell from Bob Newlove. Annrenes only goal was Jeff Lyon from Ken Bryant. We are pleased to report Mr. Merle Jones -is home from the Oshawa Hospital but will have to undergo heart surgery in February. Mrs. George Samells still does not have complete com- fort with her &ye as she has to have another cyst re- moved this week. Big thinks are in store for the Scout and Cub Movement on Scugog this year. The area has been extended and will therefore gain more: interest among boys, parents and leaders. This dnes- day is inaugural night at the Island Hall and all interested adults are invited to attend. We are all very proud to learn that one of the Island boys, Tim Pearce, will be given a chance to attend the World Jamboree in Norway in July. Of course, this will require our support and plans are already being made to do just that. Ladies of the "Head" U.C.W. are starting their quilting this week at the home of Mrs. Mabel Graham in Prince Albert. A few U.C.W. members attended the Presbytery meeting on Monday at St. Stephens Church in Oshawa. Thursday evening the con- gregation of "Grace" church is invited to attend the annual meeting in the church basement at 8 p.m. Rev. Pogue will show a film and tape concerning the 50th Anniversary of the United Church. While the snow fell softly on Sunday morning, Rev. Pogue had a very appealing talk for the children.
