Actually, Thomas Love, 32, of Oshawa, is recovering his snowmobile from about seven feet of water off Gerrow's Beach on the west side of Scugog Island. The salvage operation, involving five people with ropes, iadders, and wooden beams, was conducted last Thursday, the day following an accident that sent Mr. Up « Down the Street Monday morning of this 'week. Mrs. Rodney Chandler saw a Robin in her back vard, she checked the temperature and it read 12 degrees below zero. Poor little robin. At the Lions Club regular meeting on Monday evening, 13 members and two visitors: enjoyed the speaker for the evening, Mr. Terry Delmenico from Australia, an exchange High School teacher. Also to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Anderson whose wee daughter arrived at Uxbridge Community Hospital last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Bushell of Uxbridge visited OFFICE -- RESIDENCE Love and a companion through the ice and into the chilly water. The Oshawa men climbed out unaided and walked to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Fitchett, R.R.3, Port Perry, who provided a change of clothes and blankets until they dried out enough to drive home. Julie Ashton had lunch on Sunday with Grandma and Grandpa Asling. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Benns and family of Uxbridge, Mr. and Mrs. Don Card, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Card of Oshawa were with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Card- for Sunday supper. f= We are pleased to hear - that Mrs. Rodgers and Mrs. Millar who both underwent major surgery recently are recovering. Mrs. Millar is staying with her daughter till she recovers a little strength. We were sorry to learn that Miss Annie Yoe had the misfortune to break her ankle. She is out of Hospital and is back with Mrs. Wilson and Ruby. Will join larger area Port Perry and area boy scouts and cubs will become part of a district organizat- ion covering communities as far away as Cannington and Beaverton. A meeting of parent groups representing the many individual scout and cub organizations will be held next Wednesday at the community hall on Scugog Island at 8 p.m., and an executive committee will be elected from the represent- atives of the individual parent groups. Cliff Crowell, former chairman of the island's parents committee said that while there has been a kind of loose organization among area scout and cub groups called "'scouters clubs", a formal district would pro- vide co-ordination over a much larger area. - Mr. Crowell said the area if one of the last to Set up such a district, usually com- plete with a district commis- sioner and assistant. - Although there will be no pooling of finances, the ad- vantages of such a district could be the co-ordination of activities, exchange of infor- mation, and perhaps co- operation on joint efforts. near Scugog Point.
