Then Smit's took over in the second picking up their three goals in the first three mindtes of play. With 25 seconds gone in the second period, Don "Gray scored from Dale Crawford. Then at 1:10, Dale Crawford scored from Don Gray. Pat Thompson slipped it in from Dale Crawford and Don Gray to put Smit's ahead 3-0. Then at 17:05, Brian Parish scored their only goal from Keith Ellicott to be defeated 3-1. UTICA Auto Body 3 - Brian's Supertest 0 This win for Utica put them four points ahead of third place Cawker But- chers. Utica dominated the game with two goals in the first period and one in the second. Harvey Parrender picked up Utica's first goal at 3:45 of the first period. Then at 9:55, Carl Rusnell LEADING SCORERS G....A. PTS scored from Ron Redmen. Utica's only goal in the second period was scored by Tim Mitchell from Harvey Parrender. But Duff's win put them just one point behind Cawker's. Duff's split their goals with one in the first and one in the second. Bantams make it 2 wins, one tie, one loss In two games with Stouff- ville, the Beare Motors Ban- tam A's came up with one win and lost the second. Both these games in Stouff- ville. The first goal was scored by Stouffville's captain with three minutes remaining in the first period. Tom Perigoe tied up the game for Port two minutes later with a blistering shot from the point. Five minutes into the sec- ond, Rob, Greiner raced down the ice, being checked once by each of the opposing players, and wrapped it by the goalie to give Port the lead. Early in the third period, Stouffville tied up the game on a screened shot from the point. Mark Lee blasted one past the excellent goaltending of Dave Wadsworth of Stouff- ville. Pete Lane received the House League Hockey NOVICE Emiel's Place defeated Tran's General Store 2-1. Scoring for Emiel's were Samells assisted by J. Pas- coe and Lee Assisted by Samells. Lee assisted by Williams, and Williams assisted by H. Lee. MIDGET Consumers Gas 4 - Greives Gulf 3 Greives Gulf suffered their second loss of the season losing to Consumers. Ted Willis was the top man for Consumers scoring once and getting two assists. Kevin Williams scored and assis- ted. Larry Page and Donny Newlove each scored singles with Colin Wackett assisting on the latter. Gulf's goals were scored by Tim Ash- bridge, Tim Pearce and Brian Leslie. Tim Ashbridge also assisted twice and Paul Beare once. Carl the Butcher 3 - Wagg Bros. Texaco 2 Carls lengthened their no- loss streak to six by defeat- ing Waggs. This was the second blistering shot from centre which he scored on. Al- thought Tim Kane was four strides off-side, the goal was still counted. With 32 seconds left in the game, Stouffville added one more to make the game 5-3. On January 15, Port play- ed a fantastic game against the first place Uxbridge team and tied the game 5 to five. At the 3:10 mark of the first period, Uxbridge man- aged to poke one by Merle Schewaga, Port's goalie. Robert Greiner was able to tie the game up only one minute later with a great goal assisted by Bill Owen. Carls with a goal and an assists. Bill Blow and Rick Rahm were the other Carls scorers. Assists went to Jim Percy and Mike McQuade. Waggs goals were both unas- sisted by Gord Hintze and Dave Felstead. This was Robert's first of four goals. Coming into the second period of play, Uxbridge scored two quick goals set- ting Port back 3 to 1. Mark Lee pulled the puck back to Mike Healey on the point at. 3:55, who let a wicked slapshot go. With their goalie being screened, he didn't have a chance and Port edged up 3-2. One minutes later, Ux- bridge was.able to match this goal though on a power play led by their captain, Bill Newton. Robert Greiner, who's the smallest player on Port's team, was able to tie up the _ game at four all after two rink long dashes which end- ed up as goals for him. Robert deserves a lot of credit for the teams 5-5 tie against Uxbridge and, although he is the smallest player on the team, has led the team to many victories. The next home game is Wednesday night at 9. This is Ports last league game, and should be a good fast one as second place West Rouge comes to Port.
