This anniver- sary brought happiness to many others too, when it practically resulted in a Scugog Island re-union. They visited with the Sweetmans for 3 or 4 days. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Valentine also came from Elora and enjoyed a re-union with mother and sister as well as the Sweetmans. Though last Thurs, was such a popular evening for interesting functions and meeting, about 20 people attended the Official Board meeting at Manchester Church, with Rev. Wylie and Rev. Pogue. It was with dismay and disappointment Parents volunteer help The Beavers are off to a good start. According to Mrs. Doreen Kendall, organizer and one of the leaders of the new boys group in the area, said the first orgainzational meeting of a local Beaver Colony went very well, with 20 youngsters registered along with 11 parents volunteering on a permanent basis. All parents indicated they would assist whenever needed. The Beaver program demands parental participation, as youngsters are very young, between the ages of 5 and To. The organization in this area is expected to grow as the active Beaver program gets underway. Beavers are the junior level of the Cub-Scout organization. 985-3396 Con. 10 East Scugog Island Antique Stripping & Dipping Wood & Metal S. R. Your writer attended the open session of the Cabinet at the Oshawa Civic Auditor- ium on Wednesday afternoon of last week. As quoted the Cabinet Ministers had an orderly meeting planned. One would not need to have higher than average know ledge to see this. The Cabinet divided into three groups and each group met in a separate room. Ten minutes was allowed for each brief. ' Your writer feels sorry for groups like the brief slated to be heard, if time permits, from "Ratepayers of the Township of Brock. The Township who wishes to re- vert to former status. No doubt many put a great deal of effort into this brief and our government did not treat it fairly. Perhaps these people "like ourselves will have so much business plan- ned when election day comes they just simply have not time to vote.
