Scouts request financial help Scugog Township council tabled a request .from the local scouting organization asking for financial support to send six area boys to the Boy Scout Jamboree in Norway. More money is needed, as vacancies in allowed six boys from this area to go rather than the two originally allotted. Council wants to avoid set- ting a precedent for other groups and organizations, but agreed to table the request for future budget consideration when it was suggested that "token" fin- ancial support may be granted. PERRY other areas Should establish priorities Port Perry water supply enlargement could be one of the urgently-needed Region projects-that may be effect- ed by a financial belt- tightening of the regional works committee. Coun. Alan Dewar (Oshawa), chairman of the committee, included the project in a list of works definitely needed in the next . two years, but said that due to needed drastic cut in the committee's $27 million budget, priorities are going to have to be set up. - If all the works needed are approved this year and included in the 1975 budget, the resulting $27 to $30 mill- ion budget would more than double last year's budget of $13 million, according to Mr. Dewar. He called forecasts of expenditures in the next five to 10 years as 'startling' and said that this "pivotal" year for the committee will demand decisions be made about new projects and a five-year schedule. The other half of the equa- sion, however, is the region's decision on how much and at what rate it wants to grow.
