Following the Theme Hymn and the Lord's Prayer, Mrs. Fish extended a warm welcome to the ladies, after which she read a poem. In charge of the Devotional Miss Gail Malcolm selected a passage from the Bible depicting the fact that God is ever present and when called upon for assistance or to offer a simple thank you to Him, He never turns a deaf ear if we have implicit Faith in Him. The minutes of the pre- vious meeting were read by the Secretary, Mrs. Helen Vine. She then submitted the financial report. It was then announced that the World Day of Prayer shall be held on March the 7th in St. John's Anglican Church, Blackstock. An invitation rendered by the Blackstock U.C.W, to the Nestleton UCW ' to attend their March meet- ing on March the 25th was graciously accepted. This meeting is to be preceeded by lunch. Plans were discussed {in reference 'to the musica evening and bazaar in April, at which time the "Horseless Carrigemen' from Oshawa shall provide the entertain- ment. This promises to be a delightful evening, so please try and attend. It is indeed a pleasure working for such thoughtful people. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Lee of Nestleton, accompanied by friends, are at present enjoy- #1g a\ vacation in the south- ern states. We trust that they e a simply marvelous time and a safe journey. A' prayer is offered up on behalf of Mr. Rae Malcolm, Father of Mr. Victor Malcolm of Nestleton. Mr. Malcolm is at present a patient in the Etobicoke Hos- pital. May God see fit to bring him improved health. Guests of the Lorne Lee's on Saturday evening for sup- per were Mr. and Mrs. Nick Bobel formerly of Nestleton. The Bobel's Auction Sale held on Saturday in their former home, the old Jack- son farm in North Nestleton was well attended. The Auctioneer Carl Hick- son, as per usual, did an excellent chore for the Bobels, as is customerary for him. Lunch was prepared and sold by Ann Lee and her daughters. The new owners shall take possession on March 14th. In the short time that the Bobels resided in our Com- munity they aquired many, many friends and shall be missed by each of them. We wish them happiness and contentment in their new home. The Royal York Hotel in Toronto was the setting for a family reunion on Thursday and Friday of last week, as my brothers and sisters gathered for the first time in many years. The event was to pay homage to our beloved Mother upon the occasion of her eightieth birthday. An occasion that was deeply touched by a note of sadness, as Mother's Doctors advised us that it would be the last time we would all see her together. Mother has been a patient in the Hospital for the Chronically Ill for nine years and is slowly slipping away. It is rather dreadful when families from Toronto, Sault Ste. Marie, Montreal, Flor- ida, Rexdale and Nestleton finally arrange a get togeth- er, knowing full well, that to walk into that hospital room with gifts and flowers and birthday wishes with a hap- py smile on each face would require all the self control we could possibly possess. We all managed to do just that, but God Bless her,, as she greeted each of us.. she knew why we had all arrived together. She informed us that soon, very soon, it would be time for her to join Dad and my two sisters and a brother who passed away within the last five years. Mother thanked each of us for being the type of childen that made her proud to Mother us. It is strange when a person knows that her days are numbered, but so terrib- ly sad that in saying goodbye to one we love so deeply, knowing that what she said to be true, all we could do was offer a silent prayer that God in His most infinite wisdom would take her quietly as she sleeps, thus resembling a beautiful candle that flickers peace- fully to an end. The loss of such a blessed Mother shall leave an ir- replaceable void in our hearts..but oh the release from torment and pain it shall bring to she that we love so deeply, for Mother is and always has been what God intended when He creat- ed Mothers. I can not find it in my heart to beg of Him to spare her.. for that would be selfish.
