The Bobcats started the scoring early as Rob Van Camp scored a powerplay goal from Bill Bridge and Mike McQuade. At 9:5 Gord Hintze put the Bobcats ahead 2-0 on a goal from Rob VanCamp. Bill Haynes scored the Bobcats third goal, unassisted, at 11:43. At "14:45 of the first period, Gord Hintze scored from Colin Wackett and Bill Bridge. In the second period, Stouffville came on and pick- ed up two fast goals at 10:47 and 11:20. Port came back and at 13:10, Mike McQuade scored on a power play from Colin Wackett and Rob Van- Camp. At 4:47 of the third period, Stouffville scored a power: play goal to end the scoring at 5-3 for the Bobcats. On Thursday, April 10, the Bobcats went back to Stouff ville to try and end the series but this time lost 4 to 3. The Bobcats started the scoring on a powerplay goal by Rob VanCamp from Colin Wackett and Bill Bridge. Stouffville came on strong tf 7 x in the second period and scored three goals at 10:23, 12:12 and 13:02. The Bobcats did not give up and at 13:50 Stuart Cochrane scored from Kevin Martens. The Bobcats came back at 7:25 on a goal by Stuart Cochrane from Tim Ashbridge and Colin Wack- ett. At 8:40 Stouffville once again took the lead. At 14:30, Bill Haynes tied the game up on a goal from Kenton Baird. At 3:57, Stuart Cochrane scored from Kevin Martens and Mike McQuade to give the Bobcats a 3-2 lead. At 7:51, Kevin Martens scored from Mike McQuade. Stouff- ville again came back and tied the game on two goals at 9:35and 10:59. Stouff- ville got their fifth goal of the night at 10:04 and at 11:32 Kenton Baird got the last goal of the game to end the scoring at 8-5 for the Bobcats to give them the championship. The team and coaches would like to thank Murray A 1) FERN Fo, et ¢ ARI | JOAN 3 Snowmobile Club proves its worth Awarded top Ontario honours An active program last year for the over 180 mem- bers of the Port Perry Snow- mobile Club earned the organization provincial recognition and the Presid- ent's Citation. The Port Perry Club was the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club's choice for the club with the best pro- gram in the past season, a choice made among the federation's 150 member clubs representing some 25,000 snowmobilers. Members, Mr. and Mrs. races, cook-outs, dances, as well as organized trail rides twice a week. The club's program includes emphasis on safety and public service as well. A special sleigh has been equipped for emer- gencies, to help evacuate snowbound accident or dis- aster victims. - The community aspect of the club's activities was made even more visible dur- ing the recent snowstorm, when many snowmobilers turned out to deliver groceries and supplies fo the snowbound and help in any possible way. The club has also appointed a safety officer in the past year. The Port Perry club is in its' fifth year, and counts its membership in families. There are 185 member families. The award was brought back from the weekend convention of the federation by Mrs. Short and her husband.
