Norm Cafik announced the $92,438 in OF'Y grants for the riding so far, of which the Port Perry group will get 7,255. Mr. Cafik emphasized, however, that there are fur- ther grants for other projects "in the very near future'. Although the, amount allowed for the Port Perry area program is well below the $24,110 asked for in the project application, those holding the workshop are confident that no major cuts in program will have to be made. In fact, a large amount of the eash reduction was the result of a reduction of project participants. Nine of the original 15 young people who were to operate the project have been removed from the project. They are people with the N.D.W.T. Company, which is hoped, can be attracted here to stage the Donnelly trilogy this year. Town Hall Workshop '75 organizer David Litt said that he was contacted by OFY officials who informed him that not enough money was available to fund these salaries. However, the grants allows for the salaries of six local young people, as well as, sufficient funds for other costs that have to be met. ..Those involved in the pro- gram are Sharon Lackie, David Litt, Lilliam MacPher- son, Katherine Kaszast, Janet Watson, and Anne Marie Wierzbicki. Mr. Litt said he hoped the other nine people originally to have taken part in the project, will be available as resources people for the pro- ject, and will help Town Hall Workshop while they are Red tape (continued) accomplished. Getting away from the development and water prob- lems, Mr. Richards offered his help to apply Regional pressure on the Province in an effort to get the Scugog Island park underway. "We would be glad to help you in anyway that is pos- sible, but you will have to tell me what it is you want," he said. No grant (continued) Mayor Malcolm felt that council did not endorse the project. "It's not a council project," said Mayor Mal- colm after the meeting, "I don't feel council is ready to support it at this time, at least, not until it starts to amount to something." * He did not rule out any future support, however, and suggested that the township could conceivably support such an effort at some time in the future. The mayor feels, however, that there are some basic, built-in problems. "I think one of the main weaknesses is * the size. It won't hold. many people." He said he didn't think a play for 100 people, would be economically - feasible. here preparing for the Port Perry productions. Project organizers are planning to circulate notices to public and high schools in the area announcing the workshop and inviting the interested to attend. Young people between 8-14 are invited to take part, and according to Dave, about 40 people canbe handles in each of the two workshops. SUPPLY HOUSE RR RAR IC \ . The music workshop will be held mornings, the drama group to follow in the after- noon, But numbers isn't what the group is after. 'I think it would be hard to get people to come out to the workship on a regular basis," he said. There have been other changes in the original appli: cation, however.
