The two-part programme featured the Port High Con- cert Band, a large group which began the evening with a series of Slavonic dances v and an unusual arrangement of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a Beatles favourite. Three novelty groups followed: a massed number of keen barbershop- pers harmonizing on Blue Moon and Bonnie Lassie; the "Low Ph' Brass jamming with The Entertainer; and D. C. & Friends, a brightly costumed soft rock singing group soloed by Jessie Cafik seminar chairman Ontario Riding M.P. The first half of the programme was then round- ed out with a very listenable medley by the Junior Bank, and, for a restrained pace- changer, a woodwind quartet playing a stately aria and Minuet. The evening then swung into high with the pro- gramme's second half. The familiar, talented Port High Choir massed together to encourage 'Up, Up with People', to give us a 'Gift of Song', and to take us on a 'Ride in the Chariot'.
