The compliments regarding my columns, (rare though they may be) and our "Home Town' newspaper are im- mensely appreciated. It is gratifying to hear that it ispassed around the plant and enjoyed by all. Just keep on purchasing your copies gals and thanks again. Romance is in the air, for yet another of our local "pretty little ladies" is to be wed on May 13. Miss Debbie Collins, lovely daughter of former residents of Nestle- ton, Mr. and Mrs. R. Collins, shall become the bride of Bill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jewell of Lakefield, Ontario. The ceremony shall take place in the Lakefield United Church. May happiness, deep and lasting be theirs as they journey throiigh life as man and wife. Congratula- tions are conveyed to the happy young couple from . their many friends from our area. This premature heat wave gives one the incentive to do the yearly chore of planning and planting their garden. It would be great if the darn mosquitoes 'would co-oper- ate. They should also pass the word along to their fellow pests, the black flies.. it would certianly help. A wish for good health and Wm. Newman acclaimed at nomination Environment minister William Newman will repre- sent the Durham North riding for the Progressive Conservatives in the upcom- ing provincial elections. Mr. Newman was acclaim- ed at an Uxbridge nomin- ation meeting last Wednes- day night. Mr. Newman replaces retiring M.P.P. Dr. Matthew Dymond,- long-time riding representative at Queen's Park. Describing his party as a "new look" party constantly drawing on new approaches, ideas to find solutions, Mr. happiness is oS to our aged and infirm. May God be with them and bless each and everyone of our dear "old friends". The arrival of warm weather is most welcome but it is so sad that so many of Nature's creatures are found dead by the roadside. Tiny baby rabbits, racoons, squir- rels, chipmunks, etc. are the unfortunate victims. I know that it is unavoidable, but it seems to detract from the beauty of spring. It brings a certain warmth to a person's heart when you think of the many, many people that care enough to see that the funds required for the Scouters overseas douge Trucks trip are made available to them. The leaders of these fortunate boys extend a sin- cere thank you to all that assisted them in any way to obtain this most worthy ob- jective. The dance sponsored by the committee for the Nestle- ton Recreation Centre on Saturday, May 17th was per usual a success. G.B. and the Merrimakers performed in the usual excellent manner, providing music for the young and not so young. The buffet by all reports was delectable. Congratulations are extended to the commit- tee for another chore well done. I wish to take this epportunily to offer congrat- ulation to an eleven year old boy that has recently received honourable men- tion accompanied by a certi- ficate of merit from the Premier of Ontario for being Ontario's leading all around athlete. John Fusco excells in hockey, lacrosse, etc. His parents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fusco of Charles St. in Brooklin are wondering where to put the immense amount of trophies and medals that John has accum- ulated. Of course, we are a little prejudiced, for Johnnie is our grandson. It is nice to hear that our dear friend and neighbour Mr. George Bowers is pro- gressing favourably in the Port Perry Memorial Hosp- ital. Our prayers are offered on his behalf, so perhaps George shall return home very soon." , Sale effective Wed. May 28th until Wed. June 4th.
