Saturday, May 3ist, at 4 p.m. Miss Pat Durward and Mr. Wyne Bailey were united in marriage at Seagrave United Church. A beautiful, balmy day and three lovely bridesmaids helped form a .- perfect setting for this happy occasion. Rev. ' Roundell officiated at the ceremony withMr. George Timms as soloist and Mrs. Joan Lee on the organ. The UCW catered to 120 guests for a hot turkey din- ner in the church basement followed by a wedding dance at Sunderland. Congratula- tions and our very best wishes to this happy young couple. Also on Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. George Rutherford held another - successful Horse Show with the' weatherman co-operating fully. Qur UCW ladies were kept busy again catering to this occasion. On 'Sunday, June 1st Mr. and Mrs. Roy Puckrin enter- tained about fourty relatives at a dinner shower for Marilyn's cousin Mr. Glenn Harris of Cannington and Bev. Smith. Congratulations to. Keith and Donna Hazelwood on the birth of their first son born May 17. A brother for Kim and Krista. Friday, May 30th found Keith Puckrin retiring from General Motors after 12 years of service. He has taken a position with Scugog Realty as your friendly real estate salesman. We are happy to. report that Mrs. Norma Abrahamiis able to be home from hospi- tal. Tuesdays church service was taken by Mr. Frank Godley and Mr. Barry Bracken assisted by Mr. Glenn Taylor, Mrs. Marion Rodway and Mrs. Eleanor Bailey. Mr. Godley took his lead from the Book of Peter and spoke on "Who is a Christian? Thursdays bingo was well attended with the following winners, Mrs. Clark, Mr. Doupe, Mr. Moroz, Mrs. Phoenix, Mr. C. Smith, Mr. Samells, Mr. Brown, Mrs. Myers, Mrs. Letcher, Mr. McFarlane, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Percy and Miss Forfar. The town hall is of particu- lar interest to many of us. Mrs. Doris Taylor provided the assistance and transpor- tation so that Mrs. Letcher, Mr. Graham, Mr. Christie and Mr. C. Smith could go downtown to watch the tower being erected. It was quite exciting with all the pictures and activity. Our building is getting closer to completion now and the workmen are busy today with the driveway. Unit 2 has undertaken the task of writing a column of local happenings for the Port Perry Star. The co-operation of Unit 1 to report such news is appreciated. If you have any news please phone the number at the bottom of this column. A cookbook to commemor- ate the 50th anniversary of the United Church will be published. All ladies of the community will be asked to submit recipes in July, so start digging out your fav- ourite dish recipe. A Travelling Supper was discussed and decided to hold it in late August. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Betty Somerville on Monday evening, June 23. Following a lengthy business meeting Betty Somerville auctioned off items of baking taken by all the members. Lunch was served and many thanks to our hostess of the evening. The next general meeting of the UCW will be held Wednesday evening Jupe 11 in the church with the theme 50 years of the United Church. All ladies are asked to bring a baby picture of themselves for a guessing contest during the evening.
