I for one did not want a Pen. located in Scugog Township, I thank God for the people who managed to organize the S.T.P. Committee and did so in such a short period of time. Also, I attended the Monday night meeting along with many other people, con- cerned people who were motivated by interest in their community and its future, not necessarily the S.T.P. letter. The whole paper last week played up in large headlines the so called favorable bene- fits from a Pen. being locat- ed here, yet in the letters to the paper "Readers View- point" very little was said in favour of the gentleman who kindly pointed out the article which appeared in Readers Digest, condensed from Time, reporting on Crime and Penitentiaries, everyone should read it and form his own opinions from this art- your household chores. and keep it off in a warm, dignified way. fee, you can attend extra cost to help you through the special problems. If you were among the many who attended the Monday night meeting I am sure you were aware that the majority were against the Pen., also I would like to point out that the news that evening at 11 p.m. reported quite a number of problems concerning Pen's across Canada, rather ironic to say the least. I wonder whether Mr. Gast managed to stay up and hear the comments of the mass media? Somehow I don't quite know what to think of a man who appears to hate the town he chose to live in and all that it stands for, has quick Judgements and strong opin- ions about everything that is really quite new to him. Might I suggest Mr. Gast, that you, as a reporter, have a duty to the public just as our councillors have and that you look further than Port Perry proper before you make future hasty com- ments and opinions on Scugog Township as a whole. Happy motoring, expecially as the price of gas is rather high these days, you should try to get as much out of your trip as possible. I sincerely' hope you will go beyond Port Perry and out into the many small beautiful communities which make up Scugog Townships. I might even suggest that you visit a 4-H club meeting and learn what our young people are learn- ing about rural life, etc. from the Dept. of Agriculture and many other such organiza- tions run by interested and Claims egotistical editor hates Port Perry concerned people, All, you seem to write about are the events which take place on Queen Street from your office window, but I guess these things would be rather dull for a fellow with your ego, Mr. Gast, to even sug- gest that you attend such meetings. Again, my sincere thanks ~ to all who helped organize the S.T.P. committee and the many concerned young people who gave a helping hand. Sincerely, E.A. McKnight.
