Why this attractive 17-year-old -Brooklin girl was chosen Queen-of the Whitby. County Town Carnival recently is obvious. More than 1,500 persons showed up to watch Sharon receive her crown at the |roquois Park Arena. She is the daughter of Mr. and-Mrs. Pete Rice of R.R.1 Brooklin, and grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Reazin. Mrs. Emmie Cox and her daughter, Shaaron of Caes- - area have had a house guest for a few days in the person of the delightfully lovely Miss Pia Ringuest of Tranas, Sweden. Shaaron and Pia participated inthe volley ball game at the "Regatta on Saturday. I am quite certain that those of us that talked with Pia are deeply impres- sed with her wonderful per- sonality. Safe journey home, - - Pia, and may- God go' with you.. Perhaps you shall visit us again in the not too far distant future. Many of us are aware of the fact that the Lake Scugog Regatta has just completed its forty-third year. What many of us are not aware of is the work involved compiling programs, purchasing prizes, selecting trophies, etc. so that the Lake Scugog Annual Regatta shall be sur- 'passed by none. This is by no means a task that may be . accomplished ina week or so. It requires months of time - consuming work. Each member of the exe- cutive performs his or her duty in a complacent manner, which no one that has attended this event can deny. The first Regatta was held in 1932 and since that time there have been only two treasurers. The first was the late Mr. Harry Lawrie, fol- lowing his demise, his son, Bruce, assumed that office. That is indeed true dedicat- ion. Another gentiomel that warrants mention, is Mr. Bill Ringham, who is Parade Marshall and also in charge of the beauty contest. He and his gracious wife, Betty, are now permanent residents of Caesarea andi man add most welcome. This annual event is plan- ned for the entertainment of alland I persopally feel that a huge vote of thanks to each member is in order. The profit from the Regatta is menial but appreciated, for those funds are applied to the preparation of nex. years Regatta. This is our Regatta, not just the citizens of Caesarea, so let us try and assist the committee in any way we can to insure that the 1976 one is the best ever. Many of us contribute toward it, but as many do not. If just.one Regatta was to be cancelled due to lack of funds, I know countless people would be disappoint- 'ed, especially the young folks. Winners for this sea- son's events are as follows: Beauty Queen, (and indeed she is) is Miss Janice Judson of Caesarea. Her Princesses are Miss Ann Terinyson and ° Miss Sue Marlowe, two very pretty young ladies. Congra- 'tulations girls. = The lawn chair raffle was won by Mrs. R. Radcliffe of Caesarea. The ball game - married men vs single men - was won by the married men. Wayne Spence hit a homer with the bases loaded and that did it. The horseshoe trophy was won by Don Fearnley and Paul Riley.
