Brownie, Guide and Rang- er Banquet. A fine crowd of Brownies, Guides, Rangers and their mothers attended the annual Mother and Daughter Ban- quet held on Monday evening at the Rec Centre. District Commissioner Pat Sleep pre- sided over the evening in her usual capable and relaxed manner. She welcomed, all present after .which the Queen was sung, Grace said by Mrs. Victor parsons and the Toast to the Queen made. All enjoyed the buffet style dinner after which Madame Commissioner voiced her ap- preciation to the kitchen help and to the Guides who helped clean up. Mrs. G. Kelly proposed the toast to the Guide Movement which was responded to by Brown Owl Gettins. Janet Parsons made the toast to the mothers which Mrs. C. Adams answered. It was announced that Rangers, Guides and Brown- ies will commence this week with the exception of the Ist Brownie Troop which will begin at the Town Hall on October 20. Reports were made for each group by Captain Turner of the Rang- ers, Captain Sheen of ok Guides and Brown Owl Hos in of the 1st Brownies, Brown Owl Fisher of the 2nd Brown- ies and Brown Owl Gettins of the 3rd Brownies. : Service Stars were pre- sented to Captain Turner for 19 years as leader, Jessie Gunter 7 years, Josie Hamil- ton for 15 years in the Guide - movement, Shirley Wheeler 4 years, Tena Wolters 4 years, Captain Sheen 15 years in Guiding, Mrs. Guernsey 1 years, Linda Hoskin 11 years in Guiding, Shirley Gettins 9 years, Carol Cooke 8 years, Mrs. White 7 years, Frances Fish- er, Mrs. Staniland, Mrs. Jor- don, Mrs. Wray, 2 years, Mrs. Shaver 1 year. The Brownies, Guides and Rangers each conducted closing exercises and the singing of O Canada with Lois VanCamp, as pianist concluded anoftter pleasant banquet.
