We wish to extend congrat- ulations to Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Redman and boys for taking first place in the farm improvement competi- tion. For those of us who have watched the work and changes, we realize the honoured placement was well deserved. In other cate- gories we congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cham- bers and Mr. and Mrs. Brent Richardson. Wednesday we had very inviting weather for the "Head" turkey supper serv- ed in the Community Hall. Over 240 people went away feeling well satisfied with a sumptuous meal. Over a week ago the Scugog Island Community Hall was a gaily decorated reception centre for Kevin Chinn and his bride-to-be when 100 guests gathered to shower them with monetary gifts. The evening was spent in dancing to music supplied by accordian, guitar and piano played by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Godfrey of Bow- manville with' their band. Mr. George Timms of Sund- erland sang six "Crystal Chandleiers," "The Auction Song', etc. and held up a novice parcel sold to the bride and groom. It contain- ed a huge pottery turtle. On the evening of the Firemen's Ball, which was held at the Club Annrene on the Island, such was the case. These young fools, for lack of a stronger name, simply wanted to see how quickly the firemen would respond to the alarm. As the alarm sounded Mr. Gordon Cooledge, who was quite ill incidentally, responded, only to. discover that the above mentioned was the case. Those children, for they certainly may not be classed. as young adults when they behave in such a juvenile manner, would be sadly shaken if, while they were playing "fun and games', discovered that theirs or a neighbours home was afire. Come on fellows, I am cer- "tain that you may acquire your "kicks" in a less dang- erous manner ... think about it. : On Sunday, September 17;. Mr. Carl Shultz of Caesarea departed on a three week vacation to his native Ger- many. Carl's mother resides in Berlin and his sister in Cologne. It has been 33 years since they last saw each other and I am\certain that it shall be a rather touching re- union. A safe and happy journey is wished on Carl's D animal hialth SeIvice Join the y YNOVEN an watch your faders WITH PROVEN RESULTS There's a valuable profit tip for you in the experiences of the many farmers and ranchers who have joined the Synovex weight watchers.
