8 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, Oct. 16, 1975 Scugog Island news On Wednesday evening, about 35 husbands, wives and young people of the "Head" Community enjoyed the hos- pitality of the Cliff Redman home. A pot luck lunch excelled all expectations. The young people did an excellent job of serving it, too. On Thursday evening, 17 people from Manchester and Grace' Churches met with Rev. Pogue and Rev. Wylie in the "Grace" Church base- ment. General finances were reported and a Pastoral Relations Committee formed - to perform the undesirable task of procuring another minister when Rev. Pogue resigns. Mr. Pogue has shared five years of his talents and abilities with us. He has had full co-operations of the congregations. How- ever, other obligations demand his attention and require his time. He'is a young man of high potential who has much to share with the world. Thanksgiving Sunday, "Grace' Chyrch had been beautifully decorated by Mrs. Madeline Cawker and attendance had increased for the third Sunday. Rev. Wylie described earlier Thanks- givings including the placing of five kernels of .corn on children's plates before the dinner, to remind them of former hard times and sacrifice. Next Sunday, "Grace"' Church will have the Anni- versary service at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Brawn of Port Perry. Choirs are being trained in special music. There will be no service at Manchester. Ruth and Orval . Heayn drove from Kingston on Sat- urday and took Ruth's par- ents, Mr. and. Mrs. Arnold, back for the Thanks- giving weekend, It was in- deed a nice change for them. Some of the children were disappointed that figure skat- ing couldn't start on Tuesday but the nice weather seems to please us all. - ' On October 4, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kane, the parents of Jack Kane, had a 50th Wed- ding Anniversary in Toronto when 100 guests gathered at St. Luke.Church. \ . 4 sty every Hoe © We contend 1d my A 3 [anos e ns sae mana LD aon oi erm ea etme 1 you need hnadc:d rive 100 A bus ana sie of most 38478 - 10 sat. on Canada we nviie ments with US anywhe! your 1eque Ask for this folder from our representative, MR.
