The roll call was answered by suggesting a name for the streets of the new sub-divis- ions which are to be a future part of Greenbank. These names will be submitted to the developers. A Christmas gift for our adopted girl in Hong Kong "was approved. A letter of her progress in school was read. The ladies have been invit- ed to the Brooklin Women's Institute on October 22nd. A paper on the Tweedsmuir History is to be given. The 4-H girls Achievement Day is to be held on Saturday December 6th. Two resolutions were read by the secretary and one on rules for bicycles was sus- tained. Mrs..T. Minten, dele- gate to the convention in November will offer our vote of approval. The reports from the Standing Committees were, submitted. Mrs. H. Hilk spoke on the World Plowing Match and the work of the St. John's Ambulance organiza- tion. The Curator, Mrs. J. Ian- son, gave a talk on -the history of the area around Greenbank bought for devel- opment, giving the names of the .owners from the first settlement to the present time. The group in charge of the program were Mrs. F. Phoenix, Mrs. D. Donneral, Mrs. R. Baird and Mrs. A. Empringham. A couple of songs were sung, the leaders being Mrs. H. Baird with Mrs. W. Stone at the organ. The motto, If you have great talents industry will improve them, was ably commented on by Mrs. F. Phoenix, Mrs. A. Empringham introduced the guest speaker; Mrs. J. Brown of Washago, Ontario, an enthusiastic supporter of Women's Institutes. Her topic was on the Trent Canal and Waterways. The point stressed by her is that so many people go many miles from home to see other countries without seeing the beautiful scenic trips offered in our own country. at the Hearings.
