Many folk from here attended the many functions in Port Perry last week, such as the 1.0.0.F. and Rebekah delicious turkey dinner. The two-day fantastic display of vesteryear exhibited in the old landmark, the newly re- stored Town Hall. The day session of Christian Ashram which provided an overflow- ing cupful of spiritual thought held in the town's United Church on Saturday. Then, Saturday evening, in our village church, the choir made posS§ible an evening of song as the G.M. Choir, Oshawa, were guests, plus the Bailey's. All proved entertaining. A happy group of relatives and near neighbors were invited to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Olaisen Saturday evening for a hot dinner and cards. Mr. and Mrs. D. McMillan and children visited her mother, Mrs. E. Venning, Blackstock, and his mother, Mrs. A. McMillan, Seagrave. A couple, Mr. and Mrs. Chettleburg, Walled Lake, Mich., have been visiting their old-time friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith. Rebecca is the daughter of Thelma, and - George Godda of Ashburn and Tony is the son of Eva and Bert Young of Oshawa. Rev. Stuart McEntyre - officiated at the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Ted Heron of Ashburn played the organ and Mr. Geoff Rison of Oshawa was solist. He sang The Lords Prayer, O Perfect Love and The Wedding " Prayer. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a dress of nylon sheer over net and taffeta featuring full bell sleeves, a high neck and a short train. Her headdress was a Juliet cap with elbow length veil. She carried a cascade of pink sweetheart roses, blue mums and baby's breath. ~ The maid of honour was Miss Sandra Berga of Ash- burn, a friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Miss Nancy Richardson of Ash- burn, friend of the bride, and Miss Judy Godda, sister of thebride. Their dresses were blue print polyester crepe. They also wore wide brim- med hats trimmed with material matching their dresses. The flower girl was Miss Angela Lynde of Ash- burn, niece of the bride. Her colonial style dress and bon- net were white eyelet. All the girls carried baskets of flowers matching the brides' flowers. On their return, Tony and Becky will reside at R.R. 1, Ash- burn. Ashburn news The regular Sunday morn- ing service at Burns Church was conducted by Rev. McEntyre who took the scripture lesson from Romans 12 and his sermon was entitled "Dedicated". The Jr. Choir sang "Silver and Gold". Next Sunday being Anniversary Services, will be a busy day at the' Church. An invitation is extended to all who can to attend the morning service at 11 a.m. and the evening service at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Dr. Gowland of Knox Church, Oshawa will speak at both services. Rev. S. McEntyre will be soloist in the morning and St. John's Choir, Port Perry and Knox Choir will be here also. A social time is planned for after both services. Sunday, November the 2nd, we are all invited to St. John's Church, Port Perry, for their anniversary when Rev. Dr. Findlay G. Stewart will be the guest speaker. We are glad to report Mr. Clarence Bryant is recover- ing nicely after having surgery in Oshawa hospital. We hope he will soon be home and feeling good again. Mr. and 'Mrs. Arthur Mathews and little son, Richard, have moved into their new home in the village last week. + We welcome them to the community.
