The team showed good balance as ten players counted points. : In the first period, Robert Greiner counted his first goal as a midget with a backhand through the legs of Uxbridge goalie Dan Ken- anedy, with Colin Wackett picking up the assist. In the second period, Port Perry scored quickly when captain Rob Evans poked in a screen shot from Mike Hamilton, and Phil Cochrane made it 3-0 after some hard work around the net. Stuart Cochrane added another on a fine solo effort but Brian Geer of Uxbridge spoiled the board as he slipped past the defense and went in on goalie Merle Schewaga all alone. Two more goals went past the Port Perry posts bring- ing the score to 4-3 but the Wheels decided that was close enough. ~-McQuade scored on a nice pass from Greiner and 19 Ignores committee (continued) "It's all well and good to bring these people in for their first interview...but then you narrow it down to two or three," Coun. Ashe said. But, at that point, he added, the management committee should outline just what the region "wants to do and wait for them to present their proposals on that basis," with the ultimate choice being made on those sub- missions. ' Coun. Jim Potticary (Osh- awa) said he was concerned with a suggestion that Whitby be the only site considered. "Is anybody going to study whether 'or not this jg the place where a regional 'head- quarters is going to be," Coun. Potticary said. In Case Of Phone Scugog Fire Dept. No.l 985-2345 ~Fire-Dept. No:2 Coun. McPhail assured the rest of council that the locat- ion of a permanent regional headquarters would definite- ly be one of the questions that the feasibility study would address itself to. In addition, Coun. McPhail said the fact that a specific architectural firm was chosen to do a feasibility study on a regional head- quarters "did not preclude that they would be canned on to design any new building'. ("The fact is that we have two years to come up with some answers before our leases are up at the other locations," Coun. McPhail said. : The region currently has three of its departments housed at other locations. The planning and develop- ment department and the public works department are leasing office space at 105 Consumers Drive in the Whitby industrial park while the social services depart- ment is at office space on Simcoe Street North in Oshawa. For this reason, said Coun. McPhail, "a competent firm should--take---a--look---at--our-- situation and come up with some of our answers within a 40-day time period." ®wner's transferable 20-year pro-rated ®home.
