That's when Canada was to pick her number one beauty...the choices including Barbara. The reigning Miss Toronto, Barbara's chances "at the Miss Canada were hampered by the fact that her amateur status would be in jeopardy. Videotapes of "herself and Porter doing the stuff that put them on top of Canadian skating charts was one of the items Barbara had planned to use to sway the judges, but the $35,000 prize for Miss Canada threatened to damage her amateur status. To get around that, how- ever, the skater showed videotapes of solo numbers, not the events (dance pairs) that she competes in. She stated originally that she would be a "flop" as a Miss Canada because her skating would come first. © MAR-LAINE HAND CRAFT BOUTIQUE 160 Queen Street - Port Perry,Ont. 985-8011 Doodle Art and Sheepskin Rugs MACRAME SUPPLIES and BEADS Jiffy Stitchery - Needle Pointers - Tapestry goes.
