GIRL'S BASKETBALL The first year girl's bask- etball team travelled to G. R. Roberts on Wed., Decem- - ber 10, where they competed against teams from fourteen schools. The girls played well and tied for second place in their division. Total points declared them out of the quarter finals. WRESTLING Steve Rensink won the 168 pound division in the L.0.D. Mr. and Mrs. Merv. Pugh visited their son Ivan and friends at Trout Creek on thg weekend. Congratulations are due our village youth, namely. Shawn Pearsell, Michelle Andrews, Colin and Bruce Stone who each earned fav- ourable marks resulting from Conservatory guitar exams. Mr. Jan Rensink left yes- terday for Holland where he will visit relatives until the forepart of January. Mr. and Mrs. E. Oyler have left to winter in Texas. .. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith are also holidaying in the southern temperatures. Mr. and Mrs. M. Pugh recently had some of their family Dennis of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. P. Solomon and family, Port Perry. Reader We are sorry to report Mrs. Ethel Redman required surgery last week resulting in the amputation of the lower leg. The recovery is very slow and is accompan- ied by several resultant drawbacks. Mr. Morven Hughes has finally been moved to Sunny- brook Hospital where he is getting tests and treatment. On Sunday evening the "Grace" Church was filled to capacity when parents and friends came out to encourage the young people and their leaders in theif effort to present another Christmas Concert. Letters have gone out giving you the information. On account of the post office strike we were unable to get literature in time to hold our White Gift Service. The former Valerie Edgar and her family of Oshawa visited on Sunday 'at the "home of her brother, Gary - Edgar, and was thus able to attend the concert which brought back memories of school days at the Foot School. On Saturday the "Head" UCW sold lunch snacks at a Riding Horse sale on Hwy. 12. We are sorry to hear the MecCreights at the "Head' were involved in an accic .nt on the weekend. Though ¢ :v- eral members of the fan.ily sustained, bumps, bruises and an odd broken bone, there were no serious in- juries. Mr. John Beckett has been under the weather lately and is getting tests at Sunny- brook Hospital.
