It made a lovely addition to the front of our church. The adult Sunday School class will hold a practise for the Christmas Concert to- night, Wed. Dec. 17th, in the church at 7 p.m. All class members are invited to at- tend. Our annual Sunday School Concert will be held on Fri. evening, December 19, be- ginning at 7 p.m. Santa will be there, I am told, and if you have really been good he will probably have a little some- thing for you. Please plan to attend. Seventy-five children and adults joined in worship at Sunday School Sunday morn- ing when Jo-Jo Stone was the only doner to the birthday box and Mrs. Keith Puckrin read a Christmas story to the boys and girls. All the classes seemed to be busy preparing their numbers for the concert. Wednesday evening found many ladies joining in at the annual UCW Christmas - party held at the church. After a Christmas worship service, a few games and a hearty sing-song the ladies went downstairs and were greeted by that jolly ole fellow in red who gave each one a little gift. A lovely light lunch was served to end a very enjoyable evening. A number of Seagravers enjoyed the Christmas Carol service held in Port Perry United Church on Sunday. - Following the service, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puckrin and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Puckrin and boys were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Elli- cott. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cook of Port Perry were Fri. After- noon visitors with Mr. and mrs. Don Beacock. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gale of Manitoulin Island were Sat. evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puckrin. Mr. and Mrs. Len Somer- ville and Melody-Anne had dinner Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Den- man and girls of Oshawa. Your correspondent this week wishes you a very happy, safe holiday. The December meeting of the Blackstock W.I. took the form of a special dinner on December 3rd at 6:30 p.m. with almost a perfect atten- "dance. The planned dinner was a delight to behold. President Mae Shortridge "presided for the short husi- ness. period which consisted of the minutes, the treasur- er's report, correspondence and a detailed report from the Recreation Board by Mrs.. McArthur, our repre- sentative. Mrs, Thompson - accompanied for the carol- singing on our newly acquir- ed piano. Mrs. V, Bailey read an article about The Carole- ers from Ethel Chapman's A Roadside Window. Several games of bingo were enjoyed after which the Mystery Sis- ter gifts were given. Gifts were also received for the Salvation Army. The singing of O Canada concluded a most enjoyable evening. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Graham (Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding) who were married last Saturday. Mr. and -Mrs. George Samells, Port Perry spent a day during' the week with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sam- ells. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dean on the untimely death of Tom's brother Bert Dean in his 37th year. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Archer and Kimberly, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Archer, Whitby, Mr, and Mrs. Vincent Archer of Bowmanville - were Sunday guests of Mrs: Wilbert Arch- er. Special services were held in both local 'churches on Sunday. In the ' Anglican Church the Cartwright Pub-' lic School Band played at the morning worship, In place of the regular morning service next Sunday a Carols and Lessons Service will -be held by the Suriday School at 7:30 p.m. A welcome is extended to any who wish to attend. The annual White Gift Ser- vice was held at the United Churchin the morning. Spec- ial music was provided by both the Junior and senior Choir. In the evening the annual Sunday School pro- gram was held, The primary junior-and-intermediate de-- partments each presented a section of the program. A social time was held after- ward in the C.E. Room. Christmas - Eve services will be held in the United Church at 7:30 and at the Anglican Church at 9 p.m. Winners at the weekly senior citizens evening card party were, first Emmie Cox 89, second Ida Samells 85, third Avelyn Tuesday Williams 83, fourth Bill Ring- ham 83, fifth Ruth Wilson 82, sixth Bill Mahaffy 82, Low Rhoda Larmer. Quite a number of our local residents and their small children enjoyed the Port Perry High School Drama evening at the Port Perry High School' on Tuesday evening. The children were: entertained to an evening of drama, singing and orches- tra music. Indeed a wonder- ful opportunity. Another native of Black- stock has made headlines. Most ' Rev. Edward Scott, who is primate of the Canadian Anglican Church has heen chosen the modera- tor of the World Council of Churches during their meet- ing this past week. Mr. Scott's father was the minist- er of St. Church here and it is under- stood that hahy Edward was horn here at the Old Angli- can -Rectory east of the village.
