Oh well, better luck next time! Now for the good news. A while back a lot of us entered essays or poetry into a Remembrance Day confest. We are proud to announce that Blair Graham, from our school, placed third for the area, work kids! Cartwright's float got off alright, involving a lot. of speed and effort on the part of Janet Parsons, Keith Dal- ton, Tommy Demerchant, Anita DeJong, Deb Mec- Laughlin, Clint Sleep, Carol Rushton and Joanne Wolters. We finally suc- ceeded in disguising Mr. Paisley's car as 'Santa's Sleigh - year 2011". Clint Sleep was "Santa", wearing a green skidoo suit, and snowmobile helmet with silver antennae. Santa's helpers (Joanne Wolters, Carol Rushton, Anita DeJong, and Tammie Demerchant). Our sleigh was driven by Keith Dalton. We all had lots of fun and 1 don't think anyone laughed as much over it as our- selves, silver helmets and all. : Also in the parade from Keep up the good' The this immediate area, was the Cartwright Public School's float. The cheer leaders (Debbie Mappin, Caroline Carnegan, Giselle Doug Moffat guest speaker .,. Mr. Doug Moffat, M.P.P. Durham East was the guest speaker at the Federation of Agriculture meeting held in the Hampton Municipal Hall on Monday, December 15th at 8 p.m. Mr. Moffat outlined his party's Agriculture policy. Those attending were given an opportunity to question their M.P.P. regarding agri- cultural problems, Durham Region Federation will be holding their meeting in Hampton every other month usually on the fourth Tuesday. All farm people are invited to attend the meetings. The Federation has receiv- «ed some inquiries regarding the Inter-Provincial Pipeline" that crosses this area and these will be discussed. Information will also be available regarding the tax implications of having this utility cross farm property. Reports of the annual 0.F.A. meeting held recent- ly in Hamilton were given by the delegates that attended. Manchester News By Mrs. R. Fielding Manchester U.C.W. On December 10th 26 members of the Manchester UCW met at the home of Mrs. Ken Rodd's. Mrs. Pat Kingstone opened the meet- ing, Joy to the World was sung. Mrs. Irene Lamb read the scripture, Hark the Her- ald Angels was sung and our . mission gift presented, Mrs. Bridget Lawson gave a very interesting talk and showed slides of Africa which every- one enjgyed. Thanks to Mrs. W.J. Mitchell everyone went home with their Christmas card signed by all members present. The Manchester Church plates were sold. The next meeting at Mrs. Fanny Stevens home on Jan. 8th. Rev. G. Wylie closed the meeting and a delicious | lunch was served and a social hour enjoyed.
