A program was carried out during the year involving 93 different farmers taking an active part in one or more crop improvement projects this year. Tests and demon- strations were carried out on a total of 124 acres. The Guest Speaker on the afternoon program was Dr. T. E. Bates, Director, Ont- ario Soil Testing Laboratory atthe University of Guelph. Dr. Bates spoke on a "Ferti- lizer Program for Forages". He also emphasized the need for late summer and fall applications of pot- ash to keep alfalfa in the stand. Another point men- tioned had to do with Boron deficiency of alfalfa, which is particularly prevalent on the lighter soils of the area. Also, taking part on the program was Mr. Roy Cal- verley, Farm Safety Consul- tant with the Provincial Farm Safety Association. Mr. Calverley spoke on the work of the Association, and showed a film on the safe handling of Anhydrous Ammonia. Nestleton continued { Christmas to the ladies. ' Irs. W. Vine then read the minutes of the previous meeting. This was followed by the financial report. Cards were read and acknowledged. A motion was passed to donate funds to the church board, the mission and service fund. It was unanimously agreed that the ladies serve luncheon to those attending the Sunday School Concert on December 21st. The slate of officers for the coming year was presented by Mrs. L. Malcolm. The readings, the singing of Carols and contests for their program for this special meeting. During luncheon an enjoy- able social hour was spent. Mrs. G. Heaslip voiced the appreciation of the Pres- byterian ladies for a delight- ful meeting. Mrs. B. Heaslip, on behalf of the U.C.W., in turn thanked all responsible for making the meeting so pleasant.
