PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1976 -- § TB-RD campaign below target The regular meeting of the Durham Region Tuber- culosis and Respiratory Disease Association was held last week at Emiel's Place in Port Perry. Mrs. Jean Dymond, president of the association said the dinner meeting in- cluded a report on the Christ- mas Seal campaign. Due to the mail strike, the organiza- tion is about .$20,000 under the amount raised at last year's campaign at this time. About $38,000 has been collected so far, far below the $65,000 target set last year for the campaign. Although 'never giving up hope," Mrs. Dymond thinks it unrealistic to expect the difference to be made up in the next two weeks. An extension of the end-January Wedding Invitations available at the Port Perry Star 985-7383 deadline for the campaign could help the campaign, but the Durham association doesn't want to get in the way of the Heart fund cam- paign scheduled to start in February. Mrs. Dymond said .that there's been a good response to Kick the Habit Week Jan. 11 to 17, and that numerous people have already signed up for the Smoker's With- drawal Course beginning Monday, Feb. 9. The course consists of six evening ses- sions. Students and senior citizens can take the course at no charge. Registration fees for all others is $5.
