Quite a number of local farmers attended the annual Machinery Show in Toronto Reports on successful Blackstock Fair The annual meeting was held on Wednesday evening in the Township Hall with a good attendance. President John Wolters presided for the evening's business. John in his president's address stressed the importance of the tremendous spirit of co-- operation that is so much a part of Blackstock Fair. Everyone is willing to help whenever needed. He reviewed our Blackstock Fair of 1975 which was so successful in every way. John extended his appreci- ation to the exhibitors, the directors, the excellent clean-up committee under the chairmanship of Keith VanCamp and to the secre- 'tary. He ended by saying that although Blackstock Fair is not big, it certainly is well-seasoned. After the minutes and cor- respondence, a favourable financial report was present- ed. Harold Swain presented the Hall Trophy and the Field Crop Trophy to the 1975 Field crop winner, Mr. Bob DeJong, with a few well- chosen words. The officers for the coming "year are President - John Wolters; 1st Vice-Pres. - Lawrence McLaughlin; 2nd Vice-pres. Jim Byers; Lady Director - Mae Shortridge; Sec.-Treas. Joyce Kelly. Merrill VanCamp intro- duced our guest for the even- ing, Mrs. E. Sutton, secre- tary-manager of the Peter- borough Exhibition, who in turn introduced Mrs. Norma Cornish, a director of the Peterborough Exhibition and the Crafts Convenor of the Fair Board Convention to be held February 18 and 19 in Toronto. The two ladies carried on an informal but most inform- ative dialogue which dealt with many features of Fair work. Questions were invit- ed from the meeting which brought forth an interesting discussion. Jim Byers presented each lady with a plant as a token of our appreciation and expressed our thanks as well. Cookies and coffee along with a social time concluded a fine meeting.
