Let's hope that our snowy and blocked roads will just be a memory by then. Men's Curling Bonspliel On Thursday, Feb. 6, the Blackstock Curling Club held its annual Men's Bonspiel. Caretaker Bob Strong had the ice in excellent condition which contributed greatly to the success of the day. The fine new scoreboards so gen- erously donated by Jim Grieve of Port Perry 1.G.A. were greatly appreciated. We have been up burning the midnight oil for many a night and are finally getting back the results. Some of us perhaps did not do as well as we thought we would, but that only makes more room for improvement! See! There's a good side to every- thing...even exams. Last Monday, we didn't have school as the buses' didn't get through. And on Tuesday, we were all rested up from our long weekend and ready to start again. On Saturday of two weeks ago, the Cartwright Outers Club had a meeting on frozen Lake Scugog, where we put up, cleaned, or just HS news | inspected our wood-duck houses. It was indeed very rewarding to discover that some wood-ducks had inhabited them; proving the success of the project. Wood-ducks usually rest in dead trees, but as these are now usually removed, there is a shortage of available resting space. Wood-ducks which would normally move elsewhere for habitation are in "this way being brought back to the area. The annual house league drama contest for Cart- wright High is coming up soon. Plays are now being chosen and spirits are high. Track and Field training was begun last Wednesday after school, and we all hope to be in tip-top shape by springtime. Blackstock 4-H News Blackstock 4-H groups 1 and 2 met at the United Church for their second meeting on Feb. 3rd. This Unit is called Cloth for Leisure. We started off the meeting with the 4-H Pledge. Then Mrs. Martyn and Mrs. Wygerde showed us how to get ready to cut out our pattern and Mrs. McLaugh- lin and Mrs. McDonald showed us how to cut and mark our material. Marlene Parsons, Press Sec.
