6 -- PORT PERRY STAR, Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1976 | Wheels defeat Uxbridge 4-straight By Andrea Jones It's on to round two for the Toyota Wheels. They elim- inated Uxbridge four games straight with two wins this past week. In Uxbridge, on Tuesday night the Wheels were con- fronted with a new goal- tender for the black and gold, Rick Harrison, who made quite a difference after- the 12-1 loss on Friday. The game was tight with: Harrison making some good stops and the first period ended in a 2-2 tie, on goals by Stu Cochrane from Phil Cochrane and Jones and Rob Evans aided by Stu Coch- rane and Mark Lee. Phil Cochrane from hard- working Gord Hintze put the Wheels in the lead in the second period and Evans from Rob Griener added another. in the third. I, Lawrence S. Malcolm, Mayor of the Township of Scugog, do hereby proclaim February 16th - 23rd, 1976, Heritage Week in Scugog Township in recognition of the part which our heritage plays' in the quality of modern life of our Township. LAWRENCE S. MALCOLM, MAYOR. giving up easily and pulled to within a goal but Phil Cochrane from Stu and Gord Hintze sewed up the win. Final tally 5-3. The return game in Port Perry was one that .the Wheels wanted to win (game three being too close) and Mark Lee opened the scoring early in the first period' 'unassisted. Less than "a minute later, Mike McQuade picked a corner as a result of some fine passing by Mark Lee and Stu Cochrane, and 'the Wheels never looked back. It was unusual to-see the Port team score so often in the first period but they counted five goals and with occasional lapses by the defense and the goaltender, the period 'ended 5-3. Uxbridge had to be content with their three goals as Port Perry exploded for seven unanswered goals in the last two periods. Scoring for the Wheels: Phil Cochrane three goals and three assists, Rob Evans had two goals, as did Mike McQuade. Bill Haynes, who has come up empty-handed lately, had one goal and three assists, matching Steve Jones. Rob Griener and Bill Bridge had singles. | Defenseman Terry Flieler played a good solid game, getting the job done without § much glory, covering up for his wandering partners, and Mark Lee and Mike Mc- Quade also came up with special efforts, constantly checking and making breaks. McLaughlin, Chairman of Ontario Milk Marketing Board, addressed the meeting. Using graphs, he showed that for the first time in many years, the total production of milk in Canada has exceeding con- sumption. This increase was due to (1) good weather ~ conditions; (2) more attrac- tive prices re government incentive programs. A re- duction of 5 - 10 per cent in production in 1976 is essent- -- ial. Mr.-McLaughlin also stated that he will be retir- ing from the Ontario Milk Marketing Board at the end of this year. Mr. Reid thanked Mr. McLaughlin for an inform- ative presentation...also for the excellent leadership he has given the Milk Pro- ducers as Chairman of the Ontario Milk Marketing Board, and expressed regret that he will be retiring. Chairman B. Holtby report- ed that the Ontario County Milk Committee will be nominating Mr. Les Smith, Port Perry, as a candidate to contest the election for a member of the Ontario Milk Marketing Board.
