AEN pos i Nb $RL RS NR 26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1976 News of interest from Seagrave area') Many of our Progressive Conservative followers watched the "big eye' on Sunday to follow the leader- ship race for the national P.C. party and saw Mr. Joe Clark emerge as their new leader. We. are sorry to report that Mr. Ken Billings of Haliburton is in critical con- dition in a Toronto hospital following a very serious truck accident in the Hali- burton area last week. Ken is a brother of Mr. Cliff Billings. Our thoughts are with Cliff and his family during this time and we trust that Ken's condition will steadily continue to improve. Mr. and Mrs. Don Beacock, Lee and Blair were pleased to be Sunday luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Cole of Oshawa. Sunday morning service was dedicated to Lord and Lady Powell's founding of the Guiding and Scouting movement. Mrs. Joan Lee and Mrs. Ferne Tobin led the congregation in some rousing choral numbers and the choir also delivered a very lovely anthem much to the enjoyment of those present. Congratulations to Carol Anne and Mark Sturman who were presented with their Religion in Life badges at this service. Also a word of appreci- ation must. go to the leaders of the Guides, Brownies, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers who give untiringly of their time and endeavour to pro- vide a greater dimension to our childrens' lives. I won- der how many of us ever stop to realize just how much this kind of training does for our kids. Our hats are off to each and every one of the leaders! We want . you to know that we, the parents, are proud of you and we sincerely appreciate the time you have spent doing your bit to make better citizens of our child- ren. Miss Melody-Anne Somer- ville entertained several of her little friends to a birth- day party on Sunday. Happy 5th birthday, Melody- Anne! Monday evening the Unit 2 gals met at the home of Mrs. Eleanor Sturman for their monthly meeting. Several items of business were dis- cussed and among them are plans for . a Travelling Supper for Unit 2 members and their hubbys to be held on Saturday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. A word of warning to all the grandmas...you might be getting a call to babysit that evening! There are tentative plans to have an Anniversary Breakfast on Sunday, May 29 to help celebrate our Church anniversary. More details on this a bit later, folks. As Unit 1 had their meet- ing on Monday night of this week we were unable to report on their doings but perhaps next weeks corres- pondent will be able to clue us in on some of their future plans. Dates to keep in mind for the future are the Pancake Supper, sponsored by Unit 1, on Tuesday, March 2. Hope some of our new families will bring along some hearty appetites and join us on that particular day. Don't forget the Worlds Day of Prayer service on Friday, March 5 at the Church at 2:00 p.m. Many thanks to Mrs. Hut- BRAY LRU A eS CHA AIO EO SETA cheon for donating a baby lounge «to our Nursery.
