An ammendment to the official plan will disallow the parks and also will permit taverns only in commercial areas away from UXBRIDGE - A report in the Times Journal states a government spokesman has been reported as saying that either Uxbridge or Port Perry Hospital had been slated for closing. He said that the change in plans is believed to have happened due to a very heated cabinet meeting after Frank Miller released the list of hospitals to be closed. Following the meeting the two hospitals were left off the list. KESWICK - A two storey house owned by J.M. Walsh of Toronto was badly damaged by fire last week. Estimates of $90,000 have been given after the fire roared through the building on Wynhurst STOUFFVILLE - Water rates will not rise here according to Mayor Gordon Ratcliff. The rate which has not been changed for the past four _ years will remain at approximately $30 per year. GOODWOOD - Keith Barrie of Goodwood had his greatest triumph Saturday night as he sang to a sellout crowd of 1,300 people in his concert debut at Eaton's Auditorium. Mr. Barrie performed for over two hours during the concert. MARKHAM - An inquest will be held into an explosion and fire Dec. 20th at a local rustproof- ing plant. Stress was placed on the Christian responsibility for commun- ity and world needs, and the need to become involved in researching social issues, and reacting when neces- sary. The Church is asking the Government for a.guar- anteed annual income. Great concern was shown in the discussion on Capital punishment and also on the suggesting of raising the drinking age, a year at a time to age 21.
