By Mrs. E, Heron The regular monthly meet- ing of the: Ashburn W.M.S, group was held at the home of Mrs: E. Heron, Wed. March 3rd. Owing to the poor weather there was a smaller attendance than usual. The President Mrs. F. Daw took her devotions from Eph, 3 and entitled it "Where is the Church?" The study was taken by Mrs. R. Batten, it was the fourth chapter of our study book and was called "Lord of our Relationship' taken from the book of Colossians. Mrs. H. Ashton closed the meeting with prayer. pik It was a beautiful morning March 7th and perhaps that helped to bring more people out to the morning Church School and regular Service. The Sacrament of Holy Communion was given dur- ing the Service and Rev. McEntyre's sermon was "Always with the Lord" from I Thes. 4 and 5. The Junior Choir sang 'Give me oil in my lamp" nd Miss Christine Richardson was in charge of Jr. Church. Two of our very faithful members Mrs. H. Doble and Miss Chrissie Simpson have been very sick with the flue and we missed them. We hope they will both be better and out again very soon. In fact we have heard of sever- al sick people this week and we wish them all a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bentley and Douglas Jr. of Guelph visited with Judy's parents Mr. and Mrs. -R. Batten over last weekend. _ Mr. and Mrs. E. Heron journeyed to Barrie last Sat. to attend the North Colleg- iate Band Concert which has been chosen .to give five concerts in Nova Scotia in the Winter Break week. Their grandson Jordon plays the bass clarinet in the band. Mrs. Clarence Harrison of Myrtle spent four days in Sunnybrook Hospital recent- ly for tests. We are glad she is back home and feeling better. Friends of Mrs. J. Leask wish her well and 'better health as she has left Port Perry Hospital and is at the present time in Fairview Lodge. This is birthday month in Ashburn and we would like to say Happy Birthday to all who celebrate one in March, especially to Miss Vera Leach whose birthday is ' very close to today and she was a faithful writer of the Ashburn news in the Port Perry Star for a long time. Presently the high school students in Ashburn are busy preparing for an auction sale to be held at Anderson on May 1st. Students are calling on people to see if they have anything to donate to. the cause of raising money for the extra curricular sports program. Apparently these students aren't fussy and they will accept new and used articles as well as those that are made. It may be a good community project for the families to scrounge ° through their belongings to see if they have anything that would be of help to the young people. If you do have anything give this number a call and make some' eager student happy. Phone Anderson Collegiate 668-5809. : The sympathy of the com- munity goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lehman in the death of a loving father and grandfather on Sunday March 7th. The late Mr. Lehman has been in failing health for. some time. Several people have re- ported seeing robins around. it's always a nice sign of spring.
