WS 18-- PORT PERRY STAR -- PORT PERRY Wednesday, Mar. 17, 1976 Enjoy Uxbridge Tournament Atoms win and lose games The Malmont Farms Atoms were in Uxbridge on Saturday, March 13 to par- ticipate in their annual Atom Tournament. Port started out strong in their first game of the day and defeated the team from Keene by the score of 6 to 2. In the second game against a strong team from Orono; the local boys were edged by the score of 3 to 2. In the first game Port opened the scoring at the :46 second mark on. a goal by Robby Burnet¥ assisted by Ian Dickson and Steve Lee. One minute later, Mike Pratt scored assisted by Brian Henricks to make the score 2 to 0. At the 7:55 mark Mark Goreski scored assisted by Brian Henricks -and at the 8:18 mark, Brian Henricks scored unassisted to clos& out the scoring for the first period with the score 4 to 0 for Port. Keene scored the only goal of the second period with very few shots on the goal by either team. Port scored the first goal of the third period at the 6:35 mark. Scoring for Port was Jeff Johnstone as- sisted by Howard Lee and Russell Jones. Two minutes later, Robby Burnett scored assisted by Jamie Lane and Ian Dickson. Keene closed out the scoring with 10 seconds to go to make the final ;score 6 to 2 for the Malmont gang. In the second game, against Orono, the Malmont gang started out strong and scored the first goal with pening & Exchange Koho and Louisville HOCKEY STICKS 1';58 left in the first period. The goal was scored by Mark Goreski assisted by Steve Lee. This stood up until Brian Henricks scored unassisted with only 14 seconds to go in the second period. This gave Port the. lead by the score of 2 to 0 at the end of the second period. With victory in sight, the local boys seemed to let up and Orono scored their first goal at the 1:41 mark of the . third period and tied the score just 31 seconds later. The Malmont gang then came alive and kept the "opposition off balance and victory was within grasp but Orono scored the winner. wit) only 28 seconds to go. The Tast outing of the year for the Malmont Farms Atoms will be during mid winter break when they will participate in the Brampton tournament. The Uxbridge Minor Hoc- key Association should be congratulated for running another very successful Atom Tournament. The con- venors controlled things very well and everything went off as was scheduled. The turkey dinner was also enjoyed by everyone and special thanks for this goes to the Uxbridge Hockey mothers. Both teams evenly shared the scoring in the first and third periods but Utica picked up the extra goal over Brians in _ the second. +--Utica scored twice before Brians reacted with two goals by Jack Monsma. Brians came back with two quick ones late in the first at 11:40 when Ken Fraser scored from Randy Watson and again at 13:20 by Dale Young from Keith Dal- ton and Dave Dalton. This ended the first period at 2-2. Late in the second period at 13:05 Jack Mitchell inter- cepted a pass at the point and drilled it into the right hand corner.
