Firemen battle Island fires Scugog firefighters are hoping that the past week's 'experience isn't an example of what's in store in the next few months. Firefighters were out batt- ling two Scugog Island grass fires on Tuesday and Friday. Grass fires, accord- ing to No. 1 Department Chief Jack Cook, don't usually occur until late next month. *- The Tuesday blaze raced over about four acres of grass on the 10th concession. Chief Scott said burning rubbish caused the fire. The second fire, Friday evening and also on the island," kept firemen busy for a couple of hours. Ice Review continued re-design and re-tailor some of last year's costumes, sav- ing enormous funds needed for costuming the entire cast in new outfits every year. In all, the 150 youngsters on the ice have a counter- part off the ice, behind the scenes.
