Action was fast and checking close in the early minutes of the game and at close to half-time the students held a 2-1 lead. Sparked by a two goal effort from Mr. Reed, the teachers Wyalleyed and skated on to a \9-2 victory. Doug Culbert and John Bourgeois volun- teered their service as goal- tenders for the contest. Girls Gymnastics On March 31, the girls gymnastics team travelled to Lindsay to Sonnets in an Invitational Mee Donna McKeowen howe, 2nd in Vaulting, 4th on Bars and 4th All Round. Kim Owen placed 4th on Bars. - On Tuesday, April 6th, the girls competed in LOSSA meet at KEastdale, where Lynn Patterson placed first on floor and fifth All Round. ~ Carol Walkee qualified in both Vaulting and Bars. Members of the championship team are Bob Elliott, Sean Taylor, Bud MacEnaney, Keith Barr, Doug Culbert, Steve Middle- ton and Steve Robinson. § Receive achievement award Larry Elson who led the local Midget Club to the Ontario Midget "C" 8 Championship last year was presented with an Achievement Awhrd..at the 0.A.S.A. Vv Vv P 00 A.M. - OSHAWA me N.H.L. vs B 11:00 A.M. - Local delegates attend softball convention The 54th Annual Ontario Amateur Softball Convention was held in North York on the past weekend and: the local softball associations - were well represented with 16 delegates. The local minor associa- tion were successful in having all of their amend- ments carried by the 300 voting delegates. Included was "the Int. "D" Series, which will once again be available for the mens teams in our area such as Green- wood and Negtleton, Also the Junior Elimination Tourna- ment to name the Ontario representative in the Cana- dian championship will now be open to teams in Junior A-Bor "C" Series, and not be made .to compete in Junior "GAY only. Other amendments car- ried were; must now carry four batting _ helmets and must have them ™ worn by the base runners; Int, teams can now sign 17 players and the Senior Elim- ination Tournament winner -will now be the Senior "A". champion. The 1976. executive was. elected as follows: President Cliff Belch, Belleville; 1st Vice Don 'Prescott, Little Current; 2nd Vice Jim Con- lin, Peterborough; 3rd Vice Leo Burger, Niagara Falls; Secretary George Mahler, Windsor; Treasurer Leroy -Picvand, St. Catherines; Executive Norm Fraser, Willowdale; Bill Spear, Scar- borough, Jim, Ellis, Scarbor- ough, George Thomas, Simcoe; Keith Fleming, Oshawa; Mike Yourkevich, Oshawa. Local Minor Softball Association President, Jack Cook Jr. finished in 10th spot in the election of the 6 executive positions. This was Jack's first try for the execu- tive post and with 22 stand- ing his showing was excel- lent as he was only 13 votes minor teams off the sixth 'place finisher. The 1976 0.A.S.A. President Vin Walker declined the nomination for a second term as president, * As a result an election was held for all positions which brought in some new faces to several key positions, The immediate Past President 'holds full voting privileges at all meetings. The local delegates enjoy- ed a great weekend; of North York hospitality which in- cluded a Hawaiian night on Friday. Next years conven- tion will be held in St. Catharines. Nestleton man on OFSC board By Eve Rohrer Peter Hurd of Nestleton, a' «well-known local snowmo- biler, was elected on Sun- day, 'April 11th, to the board" of directors of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs. -The elections took place at the annual O.F.S.C. convention in London, which Mr. Hurd- attended as a voting delegate for the Cart- wright Dyno's S.C. Pete is well-known in this area for his involvement with the Port Perry Snow- mobile Club and his activ- ities as the president of the Central Ontario Regional Snowmobile Association. The O.F.S.C. is the only body of snowmobilers which is recognized by the govern- ment and working closely with them. to establish fair and just laws for all snow- mobilers. The board" of directors is composed of six- teen dedicated people from all parts of the province. It is indeed an honour for Pete Hurd to be elected to this board and our local snowmobilers should be very pleased to have a representative in this area.
