i HARRY ei 3 ALBUMEN FARIA AE EF ISubb Te EN KEW LAR PA A) 22 ~ PORT PERRY STAR - CN Ay RR i: Annual Spring reminder, fly kites with caution Now that spring is here, one of the most ancient and international of pastimes is out for its annual airing. Look up almost anywhere where there is a field and you will find bright adventurous kites darting aad soaring across the deep blue skies. But wait a minute...there are hazards today which didn't bother kite fliers through earlier ages. Local and provincial Hydro utilities warn that unless special precautions are taken, accidents or even a tragedy can happen as a result of flying kites without caution. One fatality occurred for _ int stance when a kiter riding his bicycle on a country road ered his high-flying toy an overhead electric wire. The electricity quickly rand through the copperized kite line to ground and killed the young hobbyist. Metallic lines are being used more and more fre- quently and they are dan- gerous. When these lines come in contact with electric power lines there is a very good chance of a serious accident. | ; Every year Hydro author- ities find it necessary to repeat the warnings about flying kites in the vicinity of power lines.
